I think Last Step is "quite good". I'm going to go out on a limb and say I would probably like it more if it wasn't "you know who", but I have no idea why, because I am not ashamed to admit that I like his other shit too.

i've played this to death so there are some boring parts to me now. i'm usually waiting for a certain part.

i still like:

GX1 Solo (mostly just in the car, loud)

Synthacon 9

Last Rushup 10 (parts)

Rushup i Bank 12

Death Fuck (the latter portion, i don't enjoy the textures in the first half)

Alspacka (feels pleasant but i get bored)

the rest i never play

i say all this with a huge boner for richard

Listening to Rushup I Bank 12 at half speed makes you appreciate the intricate drum patterns throughout the track. I'm still wowed by this track.

rushup i bank 12 (which i was absolutely gagging for when it only existed as a rough live rip) is my least favourite track from Rushup Edge.

likewise, alspacka, which was initially my favourite on Confederatoin Trough is now my least favourite.

they're still 2 of my absolute favourite records , along with Analord, that I've heard this millenium though

i for one never was into rushup i bank 12. alspacka is cool but no revolution. and i still listen to the analords on a weekly basis, not the most obvious tracks moreover

at first i thought tuss was pretty standard. same with the analords. now i'm starting to think they're my favorites, specifically the two tuss releases.

probably his most nuanced music to date. beautiful stuff. i was on a huge autechre kick for like 3 years and i've just recently realized i think i like aphex twin more. i'm sure i'll switch back and forth my whole life, doesn't really matter. both incredible artists and geniuses abound. autechre is sonically adventurous in ridiculous ways and aphex is...something else. hard to really intellectualize what makes this music so great.

yeah but the tuss, fuck yeah

i sort of translate sounds into textures on planes or around / intersecting certain shapes. the character of the distortion on percussion (maybe it's not necessarily signal through distortion, i don't know) in the first part of Death Fuck becomes this uncomfortable stiff fibrous mass in my head. the fibers are stiff and straight and go from white to luminous flashes. i find it really difficult to describe because more than it being actually imagery and touch sensations in my head it's more like my brain is feeding me how i should react to such imagery without actually generating it.
