Picked this shit up last night - smokin' hot. Really a lot of fun if you're into crazy hyper-parkour/hyper-violent/destroy everything sort of gameplay.

Probably the best sandbox game I've played, outstripping Crackdown for sheer fun and badassery.

Huh - no, didn't realize that BT did the soundtrack. Interesting how lots of electronic musicians/producers are getting into gaming sountracks. I'd probably prefer the Amon Tobin one too, though, had I a PS3.

Who the hell is BT?

Anyway, I'm not really interested in Prototype and here's why:

First of all, it looks like a slightly more advanced Hulk - probably because it's made by the same company. The animations are pretty crappy from what I've seen from the gameplay trailers, which is a major turn off ever since we've seen brilliant animations in games such Assassin's Creed, GTAIV etc. The animations in those games are so fluent that they've set new standards in games, and you can't help but compare Prototype to GTAIV and Assassin's Creed since they're quite similiar in a lot of ways.

I like how the story progresses though. It's an interesting idea (I don't want to spoil anything so that's all I have to say about that).

The AI looks like shit too. Of course I haven't played the game but it looks really bad. I don't know if they had the AI turned off during the walkthrough videos, but the pedestrians walk around in circles, twitch, and walk into each other all the time.

I would like to try it though, because it might be quite entertaining... I mean, I like blowing things up.

It seems that whenever you get the chance to jump long distances or fly around in a helicopter the draw-distances look terrible. Trees just popping up and shit. Give me GTA.

lol no sorry needed

@ Gary C - have you played it? I've found there to be not that much of an issue with pop-in. Maybe it's due to having installed it (which I'm not convinced really does anything but reduce load times) but haven't seen anything too bad. Sits somewhere between Saint's Row 2 and GTAIV for pop-in, with it closer to the GTA end (at least from my brief experience).

@ Squee - Totally worth a rent - I can't say how long it'll hold my interest, but I will say that the parkour based movement is VERY well done. Although the animations are not on the same level of Assasin's Creed, the movement itself is just as fluid, but your abilities make it sort of a "hyper" parkour (you can string together the "flying squirrel" style glide with run-push in mid-air, into running up a building, etc.).

It's definitely on the "arcadey" style of things, but it's basically the sort of game I've been looking for in the sandbox genre. Kind of like Crackdown (which I loved), with more entertaining and fluid movement and lots, and lots, and lots of blood.

I'm more than happy with InFamous but this does look kind of fun. I'll pick it up once the price goes down.

Fuck me, I'm so out of the loop with games recently. This game looks like fun, mindless fun, I'm down with that!

I think I trust your opinion enough to go with this one Tessier.. Has it got co-op or anything? I liked the old days of co-op crackdown.

You fucking prick.

Yo Obel - What's crack-a-lackin'?

No co-op, which really kind of sucks, as this would be the ideal game to go rampaging around with a friend. There's talk about perhaps adding it as DLC, but the devs said they had abandoned multiplayer early on to focus on the single player experience.

Pretty far in to the game right now , still hasn't lost the fun factor. A few high-difficulty / annoying "escort" missions but that's about the only negative thing thusfar. The game does a great job of doling out oodles of XP points for pretty much anything you do, making upgrades fairly easy to obtain, but not too easy (some of the devastator attacks etc are pretty expensive).

Regarding the zombie issue - it's very weird to see the trailer for Crackdown 2 after playing this game. It does seem like every game and their momma has zombies now. This game is interesting, as the further you play through the missions, the more the city is "taken over" by the "infected."

I'm looking forward to completing and then going back through with a New Game + on the city when it's just mostly civilians. . . is it wrong that I like cutting up civilians more than zombies?

I think InFamous is better

Yeah, sure... Because it is PS3-exclusive!
