Doepfer Dark Energy - 398 Euros

Dark_Energy_medium.jpg

Yeah it's a Doepfer monosynth with

  • MIDI
  • USB
  • CV in
  • CV out
  • Daisy chaining (stacking or polyphonic)
  • 2 LFOs
  • PWM
  • Knobs and CV ins can be freely assigned via learn button
  • Filter that does all kinds of crazy modular nerd stuff I dont even understand

And it JUST HAPPENS to be CV compatible with their huge range of expensive modules.

So, yeah it looks like a harmless cheap fun monosynth, but really it's a free taste of Doepfer crack.

Who's gonna go first?

i've been very unhappy with Doepfer's build quality after using extensively their modular stuff as well as the Maq16 sequencer. If you have had good experience with them go ahead and buy it but i'd be a little weary personally buying something from them again.

i think for me if i had the money now to buy a new high powered synth it would be a Roland V-synth

for vintage stuff i'd love to get my hands on an Arp 2600 or 2500

but i probably won't acquire any of these until i'm an old man

i've been saving my money to get one of these when they come out -

although i just remembered i've been searching around for a decent low priced poly synth that would work pretty well with my old roland guitar synth pickup. the polyevolver was fun to use with it but its only 4 voices

Wow. I'm starting to save as of 5 minutes ago. When the Dark Energy is released, I'll have the ~$550 USD to get it. Hopefully that price tag goes unchanged when its released, along with everything else about it.

A new analog/digital Linn Drum as well? Updated SEM? Fuck all!

I was going to get a Cwejman S1MkII next, but it looks like this stuff is going to come first. Excellent.

Does anyone know how much the new Linn Drum is going to cost?

I'm definitely waiting and seeing on that LinnDrum.

From what they've said, the analogue section will just be a couple of simplified Prophet08, MoPho type voices, rather than actual analogue drum instruments - i.e. don't expect an MPC with a built in 808 or nothing.

New Oberheim SEM reissue. Under $1,000 USD.

That being said, I doubt I'll get one any time soon.

Anyone know if you can daisy chain them into a proper polysynth (with the slave modules picking up the programmer settings from the master)? It seems unlikely given the stated intention to follow the original design as closely as possible and keep costs down.

That looks shit hot! Damnit. I'm sitting on a lot of money atm, this is tempting.

don't you have an ms20? cos this is basically an ms10 plus a kenton midi-cv box...

I had a slight lol when he almost said Schtandard but then corrected himself at the last moment.

probably a rack synth or something cheap without keys in any case (something without keys is cheaper most of the time). need a synth to accompany my Alpha Juno 1.

yeah, the CSQ 600 is quality (as is the MC202), but i need MIDI, so would have to get a MIDI-CV converter which bumps up the price innit.

ideally i want an analogue style one such as the Doepfer MAQ600 or even better a Manikin Schrittmacher. The Schrittmacher is about £1200 though!

I like the Kawai Q80 as well, but I guess the MMT-8 is better for 'hands-on' stuff

you wanted an analogue sequencer tho innit BCM?

the mc-202 is more than just a 303 with keys by the way? I didn't know you could sequence other stuff with it
