Football Manager 2010

I'm sure there must be at least a few fans here of the most addictive games ever.

Although 2010 doesn't come out 'til the 30th of October I'm still excited and have already pre-ordered from Zavvi for £18. A deal so awesome I doubt it'll be bettered.

Last year I had good seasons building up Blackburn and Bolton to Champions League contenders, as well as managing my standard teams of Arsenal and Peterborough to come to terms with the new system. I had my franchise players that would follow me around (Santon, Marcelo, Sakho, Vukjevic, Guardado and Alexis Sanchez) and I'm wondering who will be those players this time. I'm expecting Wilshere to be amazing, as last season his development was too slow and I'd be tired by 2014 when he's finally Worldclass.

I love getting fiddly with the players, coaches and tactics, but found the pre-match press conferences a bore so I hope they alter that somehow. Being able to sign Groundsmen and see the expansion of your stadium would also be nice touches.

Football Manager totally ruined my friends career working for Lamborghini, he'd start playing this around 9pm, just for an hour he'd say, you can guarantee 8am would come round the next morning and he'd still be there, no sleep, stoned, pissed, high as a motherucker and needing sleep more than me.

I might get it but then I wanted to do some work and get some sleep this year. Plus as much as it is fun I always end up hating it because of the level of randomness - you know when you win a really important game then forget to save, play it again and loose it 3-0!?

LOL. I have no idea how I managed to graduate from uni, because I would do exactly the same thing a couple of years ago. Even last year I'll admit to having played it throughout the night a couple of times.

Crack ain't shit compared to football management games.

I used to be heavily addicted to these games. Especially during the Championship Manager 3 period. Used to pull all nighters with a mate and his dad. Great memories. Robbie Keane rocks!

Haven't really gotten into the newer ones though. Still play it for a while every year, but can't get into it to play long careers anymore. But it's still awesome. The database, match engine, transfer market, player management, love it all really.

isnt it for sale for 1p?

Thats Championship Manager 2010 Chris, it is made by the guys who bought the name, Football Manager is the one made by the original developers.

I played Premier Manager 98 when I was 14/15 and became stupidly addicted to it. Since then I have steered well clear of these games as I will get sucked in and never return.

Yeah, I played that one too. But never got fully addicted though.

It wasn't until I got to uni and had time to pirate and play the game full-time that I fell in love with it. Nowadays I'll pay because I realise just how much time I'll witter away making Wijnaldum the best player on the planet.

I am playing the fucker right now, one of the best games ever IMO...

Girlfriend's away until next month and it's either play this or prowl the streets looking for fresh meat. I have a sharp stick I keep in the hall, and sometimes when I lose an important game I howl and prowl the flat looking for something to hit. The cat has learned well to keep out of my way once the fey mood has descended, I must prevail! Oh yes, and I am playing the classic 01/02 season (before it turned to dung IMO) with a patch bringing it up to last season, it totally rocks! Am on a difficult run right now, just had one of those games where you pepper their goal the whole game and the opposition score from their single shot on target, very annoying....

So, as you would suspect, the Mirror are now saying tomorrow (Thursday) for the demo, but I was imagining a Friday release.

I had a hard-drive wiped a few months ago and restrained from installing '09 in the belief that I would be rewarded after the long, agonising, wait. But I've probably just been doing myself some mental harm by religiously checking the SI Forums. :mu-ziq:

Hm, so I've been playing a Peterborough career up until January. Languishing in the bottom-half of the Championship. Even though I made some good offensive signings I just can't stop leaking goals.

I also opted to revert the tactics to 2009-style. I just couldn't get my head around the new controls, even though 'touchline instructions' were quite useful.

I pretty much havent stopped since Friday. Easy promotion with Leeds first year with 36yo Vieri and Philips, second season went up second after bringing in Saha, Pennant and Degen. Just started the Prem with Manc United and Liverpool away, scum beat me 2 nil then pool were beating me 2 nil and in the second half turned the game by scoring 3 ( Jo, 2 goals and an assist), only for the bollocks to equalise on the 88th =(

I gave 2009 a miss, but it looks like im in a FM vacuum again.

They havent really played enough to judge, Vokes looks like a player. But Grayson thinks theyre good, so they must be. It so good to have a manager that that knows what hes doing, after the years of fucking idiots weve had to endure, O'Leary, Venables, Blackwell, McAllister and Denis fucking Wise. Hes the first good manger since George Graham.

trust me Gradel can win games on him own. he was interested coming back to afc bournemouth last month but Leicester didnt have any of it and sent him to leeds after we was refused to get any loans thanks to the embargo we have, but he was my favourite and EVERYones favourite when he played for us. thing i didnt get when he went back to leicester he was a reserve team player for 2 years untill he went to leeds

as for vokes he came up throught the bournemouth youth system and help us stay up in the 2007/8 season when he played up front with jo kuffour a great holder of the ball and cool as ice under pressure.

but all in all, these 2 bournemouth legends going to leeds is like a girlfriend cheating on you, its hard to swollow, but lets hope for a leeds vs AFCB Cup tie (if we beat chesterfield on the weekend)

19 games in with my boys, 4th in the league.

Not bothered buying anyone, seems to have not had any major problems so far apart from the back five often conceding goals from 30 yards out.

Chopra's incredible though, 16 goals in 19 games before getting a 3 month layoff. Seem to be doing alright without him.

Promotion, hoorah!

Given a £31m budget to spend for a mid table finish, all I've managed to get is Sean St Ledger for £7.5m and Joe Lewis for £950k. Such a bitch to sign young quality players.

I'm in my second season with Peterborough. Still in the Championship, languishing in the latter half again. I've made plenty of signings, even some young players with enough potential to play well in the Premier League... but I just can't stop conceding and put a winning streak together.

Tough game, tough game.
