haven't played an actual video game in like a decade

still feel old video game osts to be a primary inspiration

like, in a way that i generally don't even try to articulate irl because it's all about particular complex emotions that those sounds & their relation to sound in general evoke in me, and i'm afraid if i try to talk about it too many ppl will just write me off as a dude trynta make chiptunes (not that there's anything wrong with that) & keep looking at his mass consumer culture childhood through rose-tinted nostalgia goggles (might be something wrong with that)

also yume nikki ost is fuckin GOAT

fuck it, I'm gonna post it here as well.. I did a cover of Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country with pocket operators using sounds from my Nord Lead..

Strife was ahead of its time despite its old engine

I love the strife soundtrack so much, all of those 90s Doom engine games had great soundtracks (Hexen!!)

this track just needs to be remade as a djent song

Good on you all, most of my favorite stuff is in here already including:

Mega Man 2 & 3

Secret of Mana

Morrowind

VampireTM: Bloodlines

Streets of Rage 3 (generative FM masterpiece)

A few others that may not be here, not sure if i missed:

Sonic

Altered Beast

Mario Paint music sequencer was simple and wacky, yet dope. There's an OPN track Problem Areas that reminds me of it

Freelancer

Eve Online

Zelda: A Link to the Past & Ocarina of Time

And here's these two:

This SNES LOTR intro is the coolest medieval ballad. The game was itself was pretty terrible.

And Extreme G 1 soundtrack was probably the first time I had heard fast paced "techno" around the age of 14 or so.
