Guest A/D Posted October 26, 2009 Share Posted October 26, 2009 hey guys, quick question for the EKT in-crowd. i know we are all masters of doing things cheaply and for free . . but if you guys used commercial software (instead of just FREE DEMO VERSIONS OR WHATEVER), how much do you all think it would cost to make your last album? include all software you use, and stuff like new hardware/instrument purchases in the months leading up to production. also include any costs for producing and mailing hard-copy releases. i think mine comes in at around $3k for software, interface, mics, and duplication. on the upside i have some nice gear now and it's cheaper to make good-sounding stuff. Guest Glass Plate Posted October 30, 2009 Share Posted October 30, 2009 my only 2 releases so far were made with pirated software, free VSTs and about 200$ of gear for various field recordings, samples etc. Hard copies cost me around a couple dollars each to make sold them at 5$ each, sold around 50 copies of each so I probably made like 100$ total. I've bought a lot of gear since those 2 releases, but I hope to sell a lot more copies of my next release, and will not need too much gear once I have my next release out.
