I was a mega fan of Dune / Orange (BrothomStates), and it was actually through him and the scene that I learned of Aphex. The rest went from there. Lassi did music for a couple of wild demo compos, and they're fresh as hell. Let me find the links.

Edit:

Nang here: ftp://ftp.untergrund.net/users/ized/prods/nang.zip

Riveurs Enjienrd http://www.pouet.net...php?which=57179

These are from 2011. Being wild compo entries, they're movies rather than demos proper.

Final edit: Pouet link to Nang: http://www.pouet.net...php?which=57180

Final, final edit: It doesn't matter, but these weren't released at a party / compo afterall. /geekmode off

I can't win. Fixed link to riveurs, my fave of the two.

Woah - I didn't realise that's was that song from the live set he put out a long time ago. Been hunting for the name of that one for years ! I love the change when it moved to the second section at 2:25 - I notice it's missing the Blue Velvet sample that eventually made it onto the 'final' version.

as far as i can understand, you're talking about the brothomstates live set which also featured tunes by antti koivisto (ex-brothomstates), mikko karvonen (yolk/cncd aka crankshaft), and crankshaft played his part of the collab track that is featured in that demo. or, maybe "his part" is incorrect altogether, and what we're talkin about is an actual collab track, of which crankshaft was only able to extract the bits that he had access to with his gear.

nevermind

Not sure - I just have it named as Brothomstates - Radio Mafia - Live @ helsinki 03/03/00, it's about 25 minutes long. It all sounds quite brothomstates-like but it may well be other folks, it's nice whatever it is !

EDIT: I guess the best thing to do would to upload it - Brothomstates - Radio Mafia 03-03-2000.mp3

Yup, I love that set, mcbpete. One of my favorite EP-length stretches of music. It brought up my spirits so many times after lonely nights working retail.

They did another set earlier where Crankshaft went under the name Origami but it wasn't nearly as good.

As someone unfamiliar with Rephlex and what they were doing, it was incredible to hear and see this the first time. Along with x14 and all the rest:

This is fucking excellent...I really wish this Orange/Dune material would get a proper release!

Thanks a lot for the upload, i remember listening to this set right after the release of the ep, while waiting for the lp like long time ago. its a truly great set, reminds me a bit of D'Arcangelo. its weird & sad that Brothomstates has kinda disapeared, his tracks were good. It would be great if a label could dig in those archives demo stuff, like selecting his best tracks from various sources.

Crankshaft (Mikko Karvonen) posted this rare Brothomstates live gig from 1999: https://soundcloud.com/crankshaft/brothomstates-live-saunabar-helsinki-finland-280799

I think it's high time a Dropbox of Brothomstates compilationtrack rarities + remix rarities existed. Mail me if you wanna join.
