An attacker hurled a statuette at Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, striking the leader in the face at the end of a rally leaving the stunned 73-year-old leader with a bloodied mouth, police said. He was set to receive Merkel but opted to hide behind a column while Merkel and her entourage walked by. According to reporters present, Berlusconi called out "coo coo", prompting Mrs Merkel to turn around, saying "Oh, Silvio".
