Ah the making of lists, always fun

Alien

Jacob's Ladder

Paranoia Agent

Akira

Fight Club

Mulholland Drive

The Tenant

Apocalypse Now

The Wicker Man

Tetsuo The Iron Man

American Psycho as one of the best films ever?! This is another one where reading the book first "ruined" my experience of the film

its a personal thing...i dunno, the satire of the movie fit exactly what i was looking for....one of the funniest movies ive ever seen in my life, Bale and every other actor is fuckin hilariously awesome in it.

This thread makes me feel less unique because apparently you all love the same films I do... my list would mostly be a rehash of what's already been mentioned numerous times, with perhaps the addition of Survive Style 5 Plus and Dr. Strangelove. I bet someone already mentioned both of those though. Oh yeah, also: Holy Mountain, Coffee and Cigarettes, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Old Boy, Nightmare On Elm Street 2, Koyanisqaatsi, Baraka, Big Trouble in Little China. I'll mention Alien again just because it can't be overstated how good that movie is.

Ooh yeah, Road Warrior (tho not the original Mad Max) and Ghostbusters would make my list too. Many of the ones you mentioned are sentimental favorites from childhood but that's not enough for them to make my best of list...
