Rumble Fish (Stewart Copeland)

Ghosts... Of The Civil Dead (Nick Cave, Mick Harvey and Blixa Bargeld), amazing film as well, not seen it years now but I've never forgotten it. Wish to fuck it could be released on DVD.

2001: A Space Odyssey

The Exorcist

The last two are soundtracks rather than scores, but they do the same job I suppose.

i need to track down a copy of this, i always forget that Day had great music too.

aye i will miss Jerry Goldsmith. I just saw Rambo: first blood (for the first time) and his score for it is fucking excellent. He even writes a cheesy titular pop song about Rambo at the end. Not very many film composers (if any) use a synthesizer ensemble gracefully to compliment an orchestra anymore. His score for poltergeist in particular is a beautiful combination of glistening synth tones and high pitched string sections.

Alan Silvestri's music for Predator & back to the future (which sound remarkably similar give or take some tribal rythms) are definitely in my top 5 scores

this song gets me every time, so fucking well done

Manfred Hubler & Siegfried Schwab's music for Jess Franco's films is some of the most awesome shit i've ever heard.

Probably the most well known of the tunes, it was also used in Jackie Brown:

Mark Isham's beautiful score for the original Hitcher, eerie ambient moments.

Tangerine Dream awesomeness from Risky Business:

John Carpenter's scores are usually great, my personal faves are probably Christine and Halloween III (!)

The Devil in Miss Jones has a really harrowing score considering it's a porn film. Huge favourite of mine!
