i'm just getting into #7 without hearing any others. does he put tracklists in his mixes? the jamaican one looks intriguing, as does #8

I would definitely pick up the dub/reggae mix. No tracklists unfortunately, you can find out a lot on the Stones Throw message board though if you look at the threads for the various volumes: http://www.stonesthrow.com/messageboard/index.php?showforum=7

we need to unify these or perhaps all things madlib into a single megathred :sorcerer:

It's hard to keep up with this sheat, just dl'd 6/The Brainwreck and it's tweaking my nipples/ears at this very moment

#9 is a hip-hop album with Frank of Frank-n-Dank, if you didn't know. It's not done yet (lol), so it could be delayed until later or possibly replaced with something else, idk.

Yeah, this one should be dirty and nasty, looking forward to it! Peeps are tending to think it will be done in time. Frank had a couple things to say about it in this interview. Support Detroit yall! We do need a Madlib megathread here similar to the "Ghost Box Forum".

You've got a Madlib Medicine show record dropping soon. How did that come together?

He told me he wanted to do it, and I’ve known Madlib since the "Champion Sound" days. But even before that, Dilla and I were always bugging out to the Lootpack records. He sent me some beats, I recorded over them, and I'm trying to give him the rest, but he's hard to track down. No phone, no e-mail; you've got to go to his studio and give him a CD.

I assume you didn't actually record with him, considering he almost never records with people.

No, actually for the first six or seven songs, he was in the studio. He hooked me up with studio time, and we were at J. Rocc's crib and everyone was bugging out that he was even there. There were like, "I don't know what you did to actually get him to show up for a recording."

Is Madlib really such a big star that he would not even show up to a music studio? How many fans does he really have?

A lot of fans  It's not that he thinks he's a star or too good for anyone, he just seems not to be the most outgoing guy from the interviews I've seen and read (there aren't many). Basically he's concerned with smoking weed and making music. Now I consider myself pretty obsessed, but damn, this pic should tell you all you need to know about how my man rolls.

Exactly. I'd say that Madlib comes across as anything but egotistical, especially given the esteem he's held in. I just think that he's too obsessed with making music to want to leave his studio, which his release schedule attests to. And I'm all for artists like him who keep some mystique about themselves and let their music do the talking instead of relying on hype or ego.
