Guest wasps Posted March 19, 2006 Share Posted March 19, 2006 + this is cool, nice bass sound/line, some very nice touches, good pads. – the break has been used way tooooo much, try using that as a layer and get a more original break/snare. little progression overall. sounds like the opening bars of a massive tune. suggestions: a lower, fatter, distorted bass following the main bass line after the first break down. coupled with a huge crashy break, these 2 would realy lift the second section up into something that makes the assembled throng shit their pants in glee. Yeah I agree with Waspy re most of his comments except I'll ad that I wasn't majorly keen on the bassline - to me it just was a bit too basic note wise (okay sound though). You do have some pretty reasonable overlays, synths and layers so thumbs up there. As Wasps said what this needs essentially is a monster break and probably after about 64/128 bars of music. Perhaps also some fast piano type stabs ala Amen Andrews' 'Evil Rave' - just a thought. The expectation/tension surrounding a monster break/more beats is what makes hardcore/jungle/two-step work. As it stands it sets out its stool but fails to deliver the goods. Essentially if you can beef up/expand the beats and add more layers; then that'll take it to the next level. Yep, my number one battle is trying to get progression into the proceedings of any song I make. I just struggle with it so bad. Hopefully I can salvage the hard drive from my old pc and hook it up to this one, because I'd really like to see this through. You might want to use a more obscure break and use the amen as an accent to just kind of spice it up and add dynamics. You also might want to think about compressing the drums. I just don't think they sound punchy enough. It has the groundworks of a great dnb tune, but you should add some more dynamics and progression. encey Posted March 24, 2006 Share Posted March 24, 2006 i like the idea of layering a deeper-octave bass in there. something squelchy and sustained would be cool maybe. nice use on your synths to get a real percolating effect in teh panning and velocity, i think that really helps the drums flow well. that vocal sample or whatever going on past the 2:00 mark is really nice, and would be a great thing to bring up in the mix more to sort of fill out this sparse track. i really dig teh overall sound though man, really chill as it is. encey Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
