lumpenprol 10
The Buckie High and 5-9-78 threads inspired me to go back and listen to the Old Tunes tracks again. Hadn't really appreciated this track much before, but it's ace. Has the menace of Oirectine with a dash of the beauty of Sixtyniner. Not that much to add, I suppose. List your favorite underappreciated BoC track here, if you like.
Guest slow_this_world_down
yay my ideas are contagious! Well another I'd like to mention is the original hiscores from old tunes vol. 2. That melody is just so beautiful :omg:. Also, hmm... both Audiotrack 1's from Vol. 1, and #9 from side A. Fuck, I'm gonna mention more... North Sea Arbeit, Mushyz, David Came To Mahana'im, and of course one of my fav's ever... Rodox Video. Seriously, that song is so great it makes my head explode everytime I listen. The underlying melody so low in the mix... ahhh it's so good! Hope I didn't go too overboard , and yeah Zander Two is great as well :0. lumpenprol 10
Yeah I like Rodox Video a lot, but the way it blends into Happy Cycling, with the dorky "do-be-do-do-do" synthline annoys me. I'd like to hear it all by itself. Here's another one: BMX track. Simple start like Nlogax, with a "bicycle spokes" sample used to great effect, the way the "fishing reel" sample is used in Chinook. Nothing particularly complex about it, but it captures the feel of being a kid and riding around on your bike perfectly.
Guest slow_this_world_down
Agreed. I was gonna add BMX track, but I already listed enough :P. Oh and how could I forget... kiteracer 2 and She Is P! Both beautiful short tracks. Edited March 19, 2006 by slow_this_world_down
Guest Opoth
I Will Get It Tattooed and Old Tunes Vol. 1 Side B Track 7.
lumpenprol 10
I Will Get it Tattooed is one of my all time favorite BoC tracks. Here's another, Northern Plastics. In the BoC mixes I've made, I always use it as the opening track. It's the perfect opening track, don't know why it ended up as no. 10 on side B.
Guest slow_this_world_down
Adding some more... I completely forgot about some. Sequoia, love this one, so boccish (lol). Another one I've never heard anyone mention as a favorite is Up The March Bank, any other lovers of this one here? And once again, my favorite BoC track of all time, Buckie High. I could never explain how great this track is in words. The way it makes me feel... I just don't get how a song could do it. edit - nova scotia robots <3 :D Edited March 19, 2006 by slow_this_world_down
pen1562001 0
my personal fave @ the moment has to be AudioTrack 6 from side A of OldTunes Volume 1. sure it's repetitive as all hell, and doesn't really go anywhere...but the main synth riff has weird almost train-like tones, which is cool. zander two really is an awesome song. and nine rubber wisdom is cool just cuz it samples mickey by toni basil, and slows it down, making for a good laugh. I Will Get it Tattooed is nice and slow and quiet. The porn sample used in P.C. is nice as well.
six 68
I've always been partial to "To The Wind" Sounds like St. Etinne in their heyday
Guest lands end road
"Lick" is one I always skipped. Has become one of my favs for sure. Alpha Rainbow is also swort but I have always liked that track

lumpenprol 10
I've always been partial to "To The Wind" Sounds like St. Etinne in their heyday To the wind is quite good. The "military brass commentary" is what makes it: "The target is no more." Actually all the political commentary from the Old Tunes era recalls Orbital circa Snivilisation. Which may be why the Sandison's didn't want to be compared to the Hartnolls. I love Sequoia; first time I heard it I went "yesssssssssss!" But I think Sequoia, Buckie High, Forest Moon, and 5-9-78 get their fair share of appreciation :) Lick is cool. I like the second half of Nine-Rubber-Wisdom, with the kid samples that were eventually used on Orange Romeda.
Guest slow_this_world_down
haha, off topic..; but i just noticed that the handwritten Boards of Canada on the cover of twoism looks exactly the same as it's written on the cassette of old tunes vol 2. pictured on fredd-e's BoC site. wooo just noticed that.. yeah. noticin whats noticable... ok... well. it's time for me to be hittin the old 'dusty trail'. *family guy reference ftw*

If you like this, you should download the Fallout soundtrack. It has ambient pieces that are very, very similar.
