Beck - Sea Change

What an amazing album, even though it's depressing. This dude needs to get a new girlfriend and then get his ass dumped again. He is almost pulling a sober Trent Reznor on us. But this album needs love. Fucking awesome.

i'm a go ahead and third that, midnite vultures is amazing, so is sea change. when i was in art school i had a design class where we pretty much constantly had arguments over what to listen to (prof let people bring in cds) and sea change was the only one EVERYONE could ever agree on so we ended up listening to it like every other day.

that prof was in a no wave band in NYC in the early 80s, opened for sonic youth at one point, awesome guy.

I had always assumed Beck was mellow pop-rock/country stuff, but listening to some of his stuff on Youtube now I realize he's actually pretty awesome. Will have to get some Beck albums.

Get The Information, awesome and kinda electronic too.

"this album needs some love"

this is the only beck album non-beck fans yap on about, i'm kind of tired of it... although it's a good album and all that, it doesn't really show much of what makes beck such a worthwhile listen. very new indie crowd friendly, i guess. too bad he's not really delivering these days, though.

Modern Guilt was pretty good. He's still making great tunes.

i fucking love this album. it's a sort of a followup to mutations in a weird way, which is another record i love. round the bend is an uber-nick-drakealike though (putting it nicely :emotawesomepm9:)

fair enough. mellow gold, odelay and most he has done is awesome. I haven't really felt modern guilt yet. but holy christ, if every asshole on the planet reccomended sea change it would still be an amazing album.

i agree, i don't want to be an ass about it, but mellow gold and midnite vultures do not get the cred they deserve. modern guilt is actually his best since ssea change, the only problem being that it's overproduced by dangerfuckhead.

information has some incredible tracks, so does guero, but they really feel haphazardly put together. one of his best tracks is 'sorrow', but it was never released. massive shame.

I thought Modern Guilt was his most stripped down sounding album since Mutations... pretty stark in the production department for the most part, especially in contrast with The Information. I think it's actually a pretty fine album, but it doesn't seem to get much love.

Guero's the only album of his I can't get behind.

Too bad we had to study this sea changes for school.

Raymond Dean can eat my farts... his sea changes was physically painful on my ears.... fucking picollo

Probably my favourite of his albums. I have to give Sea Change more of a listen, but I did learn to play Lost Cause on guitar.
