i do, and i've had to really get a grip on it recently because i exceeded my isp's bandwidth cap in august

usually i'll download complete discographies somewhere and i actually listen commensurately in the car

apart from having to limit my internet usage i've also found that i've run out of music i want to download...

right now it's just new releases by my favorite artists and the occasional unexpected gem how about you

I've been going a bit crazy lately, maybe 10 albums a week. But I listen all day so I tend to keep up, just don't give stuff as much attention as I should. Not to say that I play something once and move on, that's not the case. I leave stuff on my 8GB iPod long enough to give it 3 or more spins before taking it out of rotation (unless it's AWESOME then it'll stay longer). Of course if something sucks or I don't see myself listening to it for a while, I might take it out of rotation after 1 play.

I downloaded 10 albums just today actually.

i don't download compulsively.

i fear that if I listen to alot of music then I won't appreciate it.

speaking of which, do you have any advice on how to properly appreciate music?

alternatively, should I download alot of different kinds of music, listen to it all constantly, and use that as a filter for finding stuff I'll truly appreciate?

I could figure out the stuff I like most, follow the branches of influence, genre, similarity and association to find a whole heap of EPs and albums I might enjoy, listen to them each once, and then immediately delete what I don't like.

i mean i guess i do if you consider that i go "oh that sounds good, i'll download it." i probably download like 5-10 albums a week at minimum. i don't keep them all around, if they suck i chuck em. i don't think i'll ever get up to 635 gigs, unless i go for all 24 bit FLAC or something.

I hoard movies.

now this i do! i just got a karagarga invite too, it's gonna get worse.

i prefer very large amounts of music. if it's really limited, i get sick of stuff faster. i'm not the kind of person who could listen to an album more than once or twice a month

i used to hoard stuff now i just enjoy stuff.

i have a few friends who dove head first into the digital hoarding phenomena, one of them has a whole new spindle every month of mame roms, movies, tv shows, ps3 game rips. He ends up actually only trying out/using/playing 5-10% of them. I think the act of burning and downloading all this stuff for him is pleasurable, not even the actual end result
