The BBC have commissioned a four-part adaptation of The Man in the High Castle for BBC One which will be made by the BBC, FremantleMedia Enterprises and Scott Free Films. Ridley Scott, who directed Blade Runner, a loose adaptation of another Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, will act as executive producer.

such a safe PKD novel to make into a film....

I have no faith in Ridley Scott...

and there seems to be a curse on anyone who tries to make his stories into film...

yes Blade Runner is great but it is not really a PKD story but a remix of one...

A Scanner Darkly is my favourite adaptation but it still feels more like a Linklater film than a PKD novel, it has Keanu Reeves in it, and it is one of the most depressing, barely sci-fi of all his books....

no hope

G I Jane

Robin Hood

Man in the High Castle

Have to agree about a Scanner Darkly, Linklater did a great job of transferring paranoid black humour from the novel and its honestly one of my favourite films to watch, Keanu Reeves' wooden acting doesn't harm it :d

I don't know about High Castle as being a safe novel to make into a film... of course there won't have to be millions spent on set design and models etc... but there will have to be a lot of careful planning and research, pretty complex plot so scripting it should be interesting.

I'm not gonna make up my mind about this until I see some trailers/cast/directors etc... at least from what data said Ridley Scott probably won't be directing.

i dont think this is going to work at all...on a side note did you know the plot and character developents etc were a result of dick constantly using the i-ching to decide!!

also what ever happened to the movie version of confessions of a crap artist?

I think this will be great, Ridley is a good director even though the scripts he choses these days aren't always up to scratch, to say the least.

Man in the high castle is one of the only PKD books i have yet to read, im half way into Martian time slip at the moment.

Ridley Revisting Alien, and now another PDK novel maybe he finally had enough of epic movies like Robin Hood and Gladiator

i wish it were valis

with Charlie Kaufman on script and Jonze directing....

Valis should never be made into a film. But if they were going to do it I would like to see Terence malick direct

Ubik would be a really solid film. I've seen things along the lines of it pop up in The Outer Limits.

VALIS would be difficult, for the action taking place in the head of the protagonist/PKD, and along those lines Radio Free Albemuth, it's so mundane in many ways that Hollywood would seek to "spruce it up" and subsequently ruin it.

Certain directors would be appropriate. Just don't let Zach Snyder near any of it.

One movie adaptation that, if altered only slightly, would be quite great is the Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.

Another that could do with some treatment would be The Divine Invasion.

Confessions of a Crap Artist is terrible. Movie might be better.
