jesus christ, happy hardcore. immediately makes me think of Toronto. I know Toronto loves their jungle history, but there were so many happy hardcore raves there that it was just absurd.

On that note, I never really listened to gabber, but it does make me think of Drop Bass Network hardcore acid stuff.

awsome. I love some of this stuff. Helter skelter technodrome 95-2000 woot woot!! Dont suppose anyone remembers the track scorpio played for final tune at devotion 2000? Fantastic track, haven't found it again since i lost the tape.

Here's one of my most fondly remembered sets from that era.

This is the sort of thing I've always liked. Sharkey's mixes on the early Bonkers albums (2-5 mainly) were a similar style and rocked massively. Trixxy has always been a standout producer for me, although he does veer into happy hardcore which obviously a lot of people don't like. I do though. Others include Marc Smith, Tekno Dred, DJ Slam, DJ Fury, Eclipse, Helix etc

E.g.Trixxy LP with A and B side that both rock.

Didn't mean to post three times in a row, but just found out Sharkey is retiring!http://www.ush.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=253800Sad times!

wowa, looks like all those years of ravING caught up with him. He has always been one heck of a party animal, and done many drugs. Guess you gotta slow down somewhen. I'm down with the stuff you have post, but that is more of an off shoot of gabba and happy hardcore. after bonkers 2 sharkey was part of a pioneering few who were making that more darker side of happy hardcore. the vinyl in my local shop used to be labelled 'trancecore', that being a genre of happy hardcore.

another fav in that style

Yeah they called it trancecore. And some of it did have a trancey sound e.g the stuff Kev Energy puts out, but the best records were always at the harder and darker end. And they didn't sound like trance at all.

I have a lot of this stuff on vinyl - used to bedroom DJ it as a wee lad
