ODD FUTURE WOLF GANG KILL THEM ALL

Recommended Posts

So this new internet-infesting generation of music has brought on some notable rappers and crews—at its worst, Soulja Boy, and at its best, Lil B. I only recently checked out another of the best, Odd Future.

I didn't see any threads about these guys yet, but holy shit. Ridiculously, sometimes horrifically don't-give-a-fuck music. Makes me think Cali is in the middle of some skater apocalypse shit.

And just like Lil B and Soulja Boy, these guys put out tons of solo releases and a group mixtape. And it's all free.

Thoughts?

P.S. One bit of bad news—it appears as if Earl Sweatshirt (of "Earl" fame) is only 16 years old, and when his family saw what his lyricism and everything, sent him off to Military School or Jesus Camp. lol. The median age of these guys is serious 18 tops.

Yeah I dig these guys, shown plenty of love for them around chatmm. MellowHype are the best of the crew, maybe Domo hanging just behind. Real dope kids.

p.s. fuck steve harvey

Odd Future is really good when they want to be. Their massive amount of music sometimes hides their talent. Tyler's LP, Earl LP, Domo, and MellowHype are the best out of the bunch. Supposed to have Tyler releasing "Goblin" this year as a precursor to his major-label Wolf. Exciting stuff!

oops, sorry i guess i misread all the talk about them..

i thought the OP was saying they're all connected in someway..

so these guys really are as good as my first impression thought?

that's some pretty raw shit.. i like how dark their sound is

the only connection is between lil b and soulja boy, who released a mixtape or ep or something this year—haven't heard it though. but soulja boy is just another rapper who got big on the web, not on any based or swag levels by any means

Just listened to the Radical mix and it is fucking amazing, some of the best hip hop I've heard in ages. Can't believe these kids are in high school, tons of talent and super raw. Gonna check out the solo efforts from Tyler and Earl, definitely the most talented of the bunch.

Everybody needs to get into MellowHype - forget Tyler and Earl! (just kidding, but seriously. MELLOW. HYPE.)

Just finished MellowHype and while not as good as the other two it has some stellar tracks like Chordaroy. Listening to Rolling Papers now and it's pretty amazing as well. Their ratio of hits to misses is pretty stunning given how prolific they are. I am a fan.

still getting into MellowHype and Domo Genesis—checking em out now-ish.

but has anybody heard Jet Age of Tomorrow? I had NO idea these guys were in the OFWGKTA crew until after hearing their first album, Voyager, which is fucking EXCELLENT. It's definitely got an outer space hip-hop, Sa-Ra, James Pants-ey kind of feel.
