I bought a Coen Brothers box set today. It features the following films:

A Serious Man

Burn After Reading (Seen)

The Big Lebowski (Seen)

Hudsucker Proxy

Barton Fink

Intolerable Cruelty

Blood Simple

I'm quite pleased. The question is which is your favourite and which one should I watch tonight before going to bed!!?

And....GO

If you want your night ruined watch Intolerable Cruelty. If not then watch A Serious Man just for the soundtrack. Best fucking soundtrack in YEARS!

that track reminded me a lot of a track from Mike Leighs film Naked.

Squee, I respect you as a person and as a lover. I'll give WATMM six minutes to convince me away from A Serious Man.

a serious man is so good.

coens rarely do anything less than incredible. my favorites are raising arizona and barton fink. 2 masterpieces.

i say watch barton fink. just understand that it's a massively great film and that it may not be easy to see it that way at first. my first viewing was not a positive one, the second was intense as hell.. hell!

hudsucker is my least favorite coens movie next to the ladykillers.

I think a Serious Man holds a record for being the fastest film I've ever turned off. Why they gave it the most excruciatingly boring intro with some dude speaking directly at the camera I guess only the Coens know. I thought I had film patience but I guess not when it comes to Jews.

Hitler didn't have patience either :(

What are you even talking about? Theres only one intro and its neither boring, nor is there some dude speaking directly at the camera.

You must have been watching the news

A Serious Man holds a solid place in my top 5 favourite films. It is a joy and terror to watch each time. Theres an amazing feeling of helplessness and dread throughout the film. Yet its still so entertaining and beautiful to watch things unfold.

A lot of their films I've yet to watch though. Surprised No Country for Old Men isn't included in the boxset to be honest.

Same. And Fargo...

I wonder how they decide on these box sets...
