That is a terrible cover, but I'm quite looking forward to hearing this.

Posted

Well, that may not be the cover. Let's hope for something a little more in keeping with his music.

Jeez Louise, that really better not be the cover of the album - it's a visual disaster on about 15 levels, all it's missing is a lens flare effect and you'd have a full house of bad effects. The album probably sounds lovely though .... unless of course that video in the link ( http://www.mmlxii.com/music/hymns/hymns2.html) is taken from the album in which case, oooooh boy - someone's lost it :whistling: ..... though ... can't .... stop ... watching .... it .....

EDIT: Holy fuck, Basinski's just brought out a sax - shit just got real

Holy shit. Didn't see that video.

What on earth is that all about? Surely it must be some of kind of joke?

Something tells me it's not.

i'm guessing that's a Basinski performance from the 80's or at most early 90's

those were different times, when lots of things were acceptable

i'm not really into that faux glamrock style of singing, but i'm surprised to hear the sax (and I just noticed the saxophone earring in that picture)

still curious to hear the album

It looks and sounds like a deleted song from the film Labyrinth. I wonder if the album will be based on the two decade (or whenever it was recorded) tape loop heard in the background of the track (that's my hope anyway !)

Posted

Yeah, i like the tape loop. I hope he goes with that. Otherwise it's looking like a disaster of epic proportions.

I want to know what I'm missing out on here. I can't seem to play or even successfully download the mov. Could someone please zip and dump it on dropbox or something?

Yeah, I can't seem to stop it just instantly downloading some naffed up file.

I agree, but let's still remember that this guy is churning out material at a pretty decent pace (or at least has been), so it's probably just a stop before the next release. Would be probably reasonable enough to assume that he might put out something else this year as well? If it's in the same vein though, oh well.

doesn't really matter when it was recorded does it

Sorry I really should've updated my sob story with another post. It must have been the computer I was using, 'cause shirtless on my throne using another I got to witness that absolute treat in all its glory, but thanks though! Archiving it to discreetly dump into friend's porn folders.

silent night was done in 2006 or soemthing, but everything else has been sourced from 80s material right? so the rest of his time is spent designing those sleeves maybe

He's relentlessly recording loads of material to failing hard drives that we will have the technology to retrieve in a lossy format in twenty years.
