I don't think she could do what she's been doing with anything pre-TCH. TCH has lengthy, more pop-influenced progressions than it's predecessors, allowing more space for lyrics. I'll give Solange credit for her melodic modal choices, which aren't always what I'm expecting, and keeps it interesting, but still poorly mixed.
