yea because it combines his ambient style with his breakcore drums... when people ask me, hey what music do you like? -electronic music, like aphex twin -Ehmm, I don't know him (obviously) -here, listen... I always put 4 because it is what Aphex Twin or similar artist sound like, and that is the stuff I like

it's too kind of obvious Aphex anthem track to me to be even remotely the best. Too jingly jangly. It's all like I'm an IDM nerd I'm so eccentrically cute love me

Girl/Boy for example I think is like the same idea at least 3x better

4 is a really happy go lucky track. full of optimism.

But as with too many Aphex tracks (imo) it comes across as too gimmicky for its own good.

4 is just a really good nugget of brilliance. It was definitely my favorite for a few months back when I first bought the album.

For me, ziggomatic (17) is probably still my favorite overall. I'd like to hear other versions of it if they exist. Perfect fast track wind the album down. The melodies are my favorite in the way they evolve and the ebbs and flows in between these brief ambient sections. 3 minutes in it sounds like it is wrapping up and then it just takes off into madness again. Drum programming is top quality drukqsian work. the build that starts at 4:15 is probably one of my favorite moments in aphex listening history. Around 5:40 again it sound like it is about to wind down but moves brilliantly into a percussive showcase and builds up a perfect counter melody. Wraps up really nicely, with a message at the end to bring us back to reality and realize and take a moment to reflect on what we just heard.

reading this inspired me to put this on and reread it, and i fell in love with this track all over again, for the millionth time. yup, this is his best. imo ziggo contrasts his ambient atmospheres with his breakbeats more beautifully than anything he's ever released, no doubt about it, and it just builds and builds and builds and builds, then at long last the serenity that's been hinted at throughout completely shines though.

Guest hahathhat

there are only three drum noises in this song, and they're all annoying. but it's definitely up there in terms of songwriting
