someone at ICANN is getting fat off this. microsoft has to pay $185k/per to register whatever.live, whatever.microsoft, whatever.windows lest some well-funded spam troll gank it. who gets that $185k, and why do they deserve it???

 

my first domain cost $100/year. then it went to $50, then $25, now it's like $8 with privacy guard. in 20 years any asshole will be came to get *.sdjkfl for a fiver.

 

usual situation where some stuffed suit needs to get hit upside the head with a bag of nickels. all it will do is make some backdoor $$ for some pricks that don't care about how they're larding up the internet.
