To whom? Where ?

sign, please - thank you

Which ?

PS there's absolutely no chance you can detect a difference between 16bit and 24bit audio. None whatsoever.

if you can tell the difference between 320kbs mp3 and a 24bit wav file in a blind listening test i will personally suck your cock on camera

i'm really not being a snob, but in at least some cases i personally can tell the difference between 320kbs mp3s and CD quality audio, at least. mostly on music i'm particularly familiar with, naturally, but there is a difference.

no, i'm not an audiophile. most of my equipment is subpar by many folks standards, just speaking from my personal experience.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link this but there is a page with 24bit Flac vinyl rips of most albums (As I believe, Incunabula, Amber, Tri Repetae, Chiastic Slide and EP7)

Yeah, take something that's completely recorded, produced, and mastered in the digital domain, press it to a physical medium, then record the analog playback at 24 bits!

Further proof that most audiophiles are retards.

I'm not suggesting they are higher quality, but some people do prefer the quality of vinyl (depending on what you class as quality). I just wanted to put the point across that those versions exist, and they are 24-bit.

how do you know those 'digitally domain' source recordings aren't in higher bit depths than that?

some people prefer the mastering on vinyl vs cd - has nothing to do with quality or "audiophile" stuff. why do you carelessly throw around terms such as that? really makes you look foolish. maybe you should re-read the original post. some people take the ball and run with it.

hell, i have 2 different digital vinyl rips of analord because they sound slightly different. i like hearing subtle differences. i think you clearly have a need to lash out and you have demonstrated it without effort.

there is a lot of noise during the ending-half of 61e.cr and taht is above and beyond my favorite autechre moment.

i'd say i was probably talking to the person i was replying to. that's generally how this conversation thing works. i appreciate that you are an autechre fan though.

"audiophiles are fucktards" argument is about as sane as "you like pop music you're a hipster" argument

true, but i think it's pretty hard to do deny that a large percentage of audiophiles have their head completely and firmly placed up their own ass. Most of them are snake oil addicts, my father in law got me a subscription to stereophile magazine because he knows im a musician. The magazine is insanely hoax-like, 90% of the shit they sell in there people wouldnt be able to tell the difference. These dudes sell like $500 HDMI cables, i mean can you honestly tell me with a straight face that anyone who seriously buys one of those IS NOT a fuck tard?

edit: a group of friends i went to Expression with became kinda friends with Amon Tobin and managed to get a 96khz 24-bit copy of his album 2 albums ago. While it was really neat to have something so exclusive, i honestly tried very hard to hear the differences and i could not. Maybe just slightly it had a little more dynamic range, but these days with the amount of compression they put a master mix through i think it's getting harder and harder to tell if something is 16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit. With extremely uncompressed music i'm sure it's more noticeable. Without actually looking at the waveforms in front of me, i'd guess that Draft especially is a very compressed album, it's part of it's appeal.

I might just be trolling with this comment but...

I find it laughable people are concerned about having the "highest quality" electronic music when a lot of the samples used, production techniques, and overall aural experience the artist is using and trying to convey leans in the opposite direction to all this audiophile crap. Add to that the device the user is playing it back on (typically their computer speakers or an iPod), renders this quest for the ultimate in quality utterly pointless.
