stupid first world problems you're dealing with

I agree with you, there's some American over here and I don't like their manners at all... all entitled and snuck up and shit but after sometime working with them you get to understand that they're basically just showing off...

many americans, in corporate/creative/tech jobs, are very focused on image especially when they perceive that someone is better than them at something. also, many americans really want the pat on the back for doing the thing they were supposed to do anyways. but i think this problem is not uniquely american but often corporate culture as a whole.. but americans are really good at embedding themselves into that system and want some kind of praise for that as if they have come so far in their career and have a mountain of accomplishments to stand on. it's also a thing people do where they justify their persona to themselves. they need to say things out loud otherwise they might realize that it's all bullshit and they're just as useless as any other cog in the machine. "i'm special".

but i'm generalizing and i know many wonderful people who don't have these problems with image and ego and also work in the same kind of jobs/environments.

i'm finding out about this these days. so excuse me while i rant this out: our company was bought by american investors, and the ceo immediately started putting fellow americans in key executive positions (some positions were opened just for the sake of it). all dandy and whatever, but the problem arises with the recent reorganization that consolidated branches which have nothing to do with the professional profile of that certain executive. so now we have to explain to him why certain things are what they are, and it's silly. it become downright bizarre when he makes uninformed sweeping decisions that turn everything upside down. but we are unable to explain his wrongdoing because he refuses to listen for more than 15 seconds, because apparently they've all developed attention deficit disorder from the "sell me this pen in 15 seconds" shtick they think makes the world turn. to top that off, he immediately fired two of our competent operations managers, because they voiced their disagreements loudly. the latter bothers me, because it appears to be a symptom of some superiority complex, with an explicit desire to 'teach us' or make thins go their way. it reminds me too much of that movie trope, where the american protagonist in an international assembly of characters is always the one with the most knowledge and guts and is a de-facto leader. only in the case of movies (because they are movies) they tend to be right, but in this case (because it's real life) they aren't.

Spot on.

I am guilty of this to an extent in that I purposefully manage my *cringe* personal brand. But it’s with an understanding of my environment and what I need to do to be successful. I don’t need any back patting though I am aware I’m just a useless cog or number in a system. Sometimes it’s hard to find self worth.

My cat has started eating so fast that he pukes like a minute later. This is like every day the past week. I bought him a slow feeder for dry food where he has to  use his paws to grab the kibble and this works. But the wet? I was told to spread it thin across the surface of a large plate.. and that sometimes works. My next idea is, instead of feeding him pate stuff, feed him the chunky bits that come in sauce. MAYBE that will less likely get stuck in his throat.  Luckily, next month we have his yearly checkup at the vet so they might know what to do or even take some scans, I hope there’s nothing wrong with the guy.

Vomiting mostly water and/or food with no hairball is one of the first signs of kidney disease for kitties… it’s how our our big guy passed away earlier this year. (Granted he was like almost 20; but the symptoms are the same regardless of age - does he have stinky breath too?) Not trying to spook you but if you don’t already maybe shell out for the bloodwork and urinalysis during the checkup…

Shit, that’s good to know. Thanks…

His breath doesn’t seem excessively bad.

I’m sure he’s ok man sorry; just over over over sensitive after what happened to our guy! At least here the urinalysis and bloodwork was only an extra $200 that’s why I was suggesting it JUST IN CASE the vomiting is something. Hopeful it’s nothing ofc I hope I didn’t startle you

Naw man, it’s all good. It’s funny that this is all of a sudden but he really does eat his food like there’s no tomorrow. Scarf and barf, as they call it. So I hope it’s just that. I’m willing to pay a bit more to get this sorted.

fell from the stairs while climbing down from my topbunk... fell right onto a tiny desk and and a chair (took me a while to be able to get up...) fucked my ribs...

on that same day the pain was bearable but on the 2nd day I day started to get worried but decided to work anyway since I didn't have any heavy lifting to do so... on that same night, I incidentally sneezed, and I felt such a hard piercing pain in my front ribs that I thought I was gonna bleed internally...

went to the medical facility immediately but the nurse said that I should get back in the next morning because the doctor wasn't there att... didn't even gave any painkillers...

next day I went to see 'the doctor'... he didn't even use that stethoscope thingie while I was inhaling and exhailing deeply like they use to do... didn't even touch me to understand where was the pain... told me that I need to see a specialist outside the ship in our next stop which is tomorrow in Cyprus...

i'm a bit worried because if they declare me as "unfit for duty" there's a slight chance they'll sent me home if they don't find me a replacement on time (which is not easy?)

painkillers are helping a lot but Im almost certain I'm taking the double of what I should...

Tim J spiraling down a painkiller addiction worm hole in 3...2....

just imagine it bro...in the future you won't need to take these addicting little hard powder capsules in order to deal with the aches and pains our bodies cause us to feel. there'll be tiny little AI nano bots that will run up and down you, diagnosing and repairing the damage immediately. question is, would you trust them? or do you trust a crusty old Cypress "specialist," who you know is gonna tell you "we need to run tests" that take forever, and by the time they get results you've already adjusted to the pain, and/or you have already repaired yourself. hmm....

thx; I was seriously racking my brain trying to remember/figure out cruisin’s prior UN. I swear before we had a “check name history” function but it seems to be gone now and/or I’m just stupid and can’t find it.

edit: the above is my fwp for the last couple weeks

my ex-gf ordered me a brand new MBP off amazon (mine is 10+ years old and slowly shaking itself to pieces)

She got the email it was delivered today, I went down to my building's lobby 10mins after he got the email and no sign of it.

I honestly don't think it was ever delivered, I think the driver had it.

Now though we have to deal with the tower of babel that is the amazon customer service service

Pretty overwhelmed by work right now. I thought I was pretty good at it but now i got some more responsibilities and getting a lot more criticism. I'm a teacher basically but now also responsible for the curriculum partly, but I dont get a lot of time for things and everything gets done pretty hastily which of course is biting me in the ass afterwards. Went to a beer festival yesterday and though not seriously hungover I am a bit tired. Have to do a big family BBQ (obviously I’m the chef) and all I want to do is snooze in the shade of the sunshine, drink a few cold beers, listen to the birds sing and the daydream to the warm summer breeze gently blowing through the leaves of the trees.

And that most definitely ain’t gonna happen ?

(first car has just arrived as I type!)

Nocturia (having to get up to piss throughout the night) has become more of an issue for me over the past year. Either it's early stage old man problems, or I just need to start cutting off any food and fluid intake after dinner.
