anyone have experience with this? have never tried ketamine myself. or any RC for that matter

not to be a twat, but Ketamine is far from a Research Chemical. It's been extensively tested on humans and is still used as a much safer and controllable surgery anesthetic, it's also used on very young children and small animals still (because of it's safety over other anesthetics)

the medical anesthetic dose of ketamine is MORE than the recreational dose, besides it being very addictive for certain psychonautic types, it's probably one of the best psychedelic drugs i've done.

Vice is a weird magazine, sometimes i love it when they do articles like this other times i fucking hate it and want to punch my screen like when they sent this hipster douche to visit Alexander shulgin

The term that describes ketamine the best is psychedelic heroine for me. Pretty freaky heavy serious stuff. Nothing for kids.

Anyway I get the feeling that it will be or already is the drug of our generation: like the 60ies had acid, 2010 has ketamine. At least in Berlin it is huge. And from what I hear it is huge in the UK as well.

the weird thing about 90% of people who recreationally use ketamine is they don't use it in my opinion psychedelically.

unlike LSD or other more common psychedelics, Ketamine requires sensory deprivation to unlock it's hallucinatory effects. You can't get full blown K hallucinations with your eyes open in a dance club like you can on LSD or mushrooms. Ketamine works best in a very dark room, with a blind fold or just with your eyes closed in a peaceful environment. It seems like a lot of club going K users just do it to get really fucked up in a non psychedelic way. K in that kind of setting isnt too drastically different from a high dose of benzos

Yeah, I got annoyed by that hipster dude also. He's the one behind all these drug related stories on Vice. The story about a girl who lived in the LSD silo is a interesting and fucked up. http://www.vice.com/hamiltons-pharmacopeia/getting-high-on-krystle-trailer

was referring to Methoxetamine with research chemicals, the legal ketamine analogue

what interests me most is that it is said to be similar to DMT in that the experience is said to be one that is similar to a near-death experience

I haven't heard a lot of people about the near-death experience aspect of it. Personally I did have a very strong experience relating to that sensation. I flew over a distant planet - being made out of iron - with strange engraved drawings on it. The end of the flight would mean the end of my existence. It was beautiful though very disturbing and hard to grasp. Even if I was not frightened, I was very unsettled. Once I got rid of this feeling - don't ask me how - I accepted my faith, and just aknowledged the fact that it would all end here.

If anybody here is interested in the strange multitude of psychedelic effects ketamine can induce, I recommend checking out the book Ketamine: Dreams & Realities by Karl Jansen

edit: and trying ketamine :cat: (in the way that awepittance described)

I know next to nothing about chemistry but this was a really interesting article, I like how it brings up the ethical questions of such things... it also made me think back to topics on drug use and dependency mentioned in A Scanner Darkly which I watched again earlier this week.

Also I haven't ever really mentioned or read much about Ketamine, but it sounds interesting... I have taken acid before, how does the trip compare?

I love ketamine. It's like a pint-sized trip contained in your mind. It's a much more internal feeling and not at all like LSD. It kinda feels like your mind is smeared out across infinity or something, if I had to put it to words.

If you like your music though, get a trippy reverby playlist ready and do like 2 fat lines of k and then lay down in bed and trip the fuck out while listening. It's pretty much complete fucking bliss.

That sounds very intriguing... I may have to do this when I'm less stressed out about things happening in my life, like to be in a good place before I trip

I had a friend in the late 90's who used to get boxes of ketaset ketamine. His wife & him taught me how to cook it. I think if you dosed it in moderation, without falling into a khole, it was pretty awesome stuff. Made for some very heavy, but beautiful conversations. A couple times we would add vanilla extract to lessen the drip flavor.

Funny, last year around summer we had some mental ketamine here with a vanilla smell/taste as well. Do K-heads like Vanilla or what?

I would say Ketamine is the exact opposite of acid. In my opinion it is also way more serious and way deeper and darker than acid. While acid remains in your controll in a certain degree, huge Ketamine doses (and dosing low is stupid in my opinion) take complet controll and do with you what you want. Some dude also explained me that Ketamine is working on completly different routes than the psychedelics going mostly for the serotonine receptors. But Ketamine is very addicting and has a tendency to make psychotic quiet fast und not noticeable. At least if you consume it like we used to do :cerious:
