The classic 1980s Call of Cthulhu tabletop RPG game being remastered on Kickstarter:

Wow, blast from the past. A rite of passage for any self-respecting nerd. I've played these indie TTRPGs that offer a new and streamlined take on Lovecraft themed stories. Both worth checking out.

Nice timely reissue that. Recently flogged a load of my old late 90s cthulhu books that's were gathering dust in my parents attic. Looks like I timed it just right

Is this a difficult RPG to learn? I’m trying to teach my nephew basic D&D, he loves Ravenloft.

I've been funding some board games on Kickstarter, here's some I've already got:

In progress/waiting to receive:

I'm also a Battletech and RPG geek - my favourite RPG is Paranoia.

Been Digging - https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/163412/patchwork w/ the lady. It's great little 2-player game with interesting choices but with extremely simple rules and a casual feel. You're making a quilt and trying to score big.

Ordered a copy of Brass: Birmingham to see what all the hype is about. Looks real good.

coming in over a year later to say SU&SD can suck a big fat dick, their opinion is worthless and Brass: Lancashire is the Good version of Brass

That's a lot of Kickstarters backed. Man, Car Wars is a blast from the past. All I can remember was that it took ages to set up, and when I tried to take a corner, my car crashed and exploded.

Started playing Vampire The Eternal Struggle card game, managed a few sessions over the last few months.

I've never played Paranoia, most of my group have played it and they speak highly of it.

I tend to play a lot of indie RPGs - usually PbtA based - though any system that is more narrative/character focused will usually get my attention. Running a game this evening, first time GMing in quite a while, though I do prefer it to being a player.

This is a super exciting game, even if you aren’t familiar with the movie. The goal is to escape from the base but some of the players are secretly infected and are sabotaging the other players efforts. Lots of bluffing. Unfortunately, I think it goes for $300 on eBay. We played with a good friend who is a hardcore board gamer. He also introduced us to Catan, as well as a few other bangers over the years…

I've got a few of them small plastic boxes from the first or second edition, and I'd completely forgotten about Car Wars when the 6th edition dropped, so I just had to spend some to stroll down memory lane. Oh, and that's only the board games - to date I've backed over 90 projects, mostly board games, RPGs, and comics/graphic novels - but also plenty of gadgets, accessories and EDC tools/thingamajigs. It's addictive.

Paranoia's been my favourite RPG since my teens (the 2nd edition was released in 1984, I think I got into it a couple of years later when I was 12 or so) - but I've funded the most recent edition and the subsequent additions.

The Call of Cthulhu was by far my favorite tabletop RPG. I was the gamemaster for years for multiple campaigns, but my favorite was the Masks of Nyarlathotep which was fucking epic. I also loved to run CoC Dreamlands campaigns but unfortunately the players didn't enjoy them as much.

I also played and gamemastered 2300AD a ton which was a lot of fun. Runequest, Twilight 2000, Cyberpunk 2020 and Paranoia also come to mind. Cyberpunk had the alternative setting in George Alec Effinger's Budayeen cycle world which I actually found more interesting than the regular Night City stuff.

The remaster took in nearly 600,000 USD, I pledged for the 2" box set.

I also funded the latest edition of Twilight 2000.

I have a huge collection of different RPGs stashed away in boxes in the cellar, Judge Dredd, Runequest, Gamma World, classic D&D, TMNT, Paranoia, etc.

I donated my whole collection to an RPG club some years ago when I got rid of most of my other possessions also, and anyway I hadn't played for years at that point.

And anyway I try not to collect physical stuff anymore (he says while handling a Belarusian jewelry box made of birch bark he just salvaged).
