I'm really looking forward to it! I've had my eye on it for probably half a year and decided that its defo gonna be a worthwhile investment. I've sort of been waiting for a midi/audio interface for Iphone/Ipod Touch but it hasn't materialised yet so this will have to do for the mo.

Any other Irig Midi users here?? :D

Looks interesting. So you intend to send midi from your iphone to your DAW? Which apps were you planning on using?

Thats interesting, but wouldn't you want to take advantage of the things the iPhone/iPad has that a regular midi keyboard does not?

i'm thinking about getting something like this so i can (maybe?) chain iPad apps like the Animoog or iMS-20 to my other midi controllers, though i haven't put enough thought into the plan to put any money into it...

let us know how it goes, Promo

Nice!!

I've had one of the line 6 midi mobilizers for a while, still not really had much of a chance to play with it yet though..

Got mine for using with TouchOSC, as you probably know, touch lets you transmit osc data via wifi which does work really well, but leaves you at the mercy of a network connection. had it drop out on me a couple times midway through a set and decided to get the midi plug instead.

TouchOSC with the midi connection works brilliantly, not a single problem with it so far after a bunch of gigs. Haven't tried sending midi across to apps like ims20 or the new Moog one yet, should be interesting.

The only downside I found with the Line 6 one, was that it does not provide a port for plugging in the apple cable in to keep it on mains. not to bad for live situations since you're never gonna need more than an hour or two battery life, but in a studio situation it might become a bit more of an issue.

Did you also check out that alesis dock thingy? Really interested in that thing, bit more than I can really afford right now though.

Let us know how you get along with the iRig, looks cool!!

Does this work with hardware or just software? I'd love to control my QY70s sounds using touchOSC..

Irig Midi has midi out, in and thru plus a little socket to allow you to charge your Iphone/Ipod Touch at the same time.

Basically my plan is to plug it into the USB Midi interface of my Evolution UC33 and then sync it up with Ableton. I'm using Beatmaker 2 so aim to sync it via Ableton's midi clock. However alternatively I can use say Sampletank free which would then turn my Ipod Touch into a dedicated 4 channel synth module! Either way it opens up a lot of possibilities.

The only downside of this is that I'll be using headphone out from my Ipod Touch and would prefer to use line out but unfortunately there isn't any device which facilitates line out and midi at the same time.

Anyways I'll put up a little video showing in within my set up soon just for you guys.

Yeah the Alesis io Dock is pretty much the complete solution if you have an Ipad that's for sure but not much use if you've only got Iphone/Ipod Touch. That said there are rumours going around that Iconnectivity will bringing such as device for those of us who don't use an Ipad. Supposedly its gonna be better than the IO Dock although I'm not sure how that can be outdone but I'm intrigued to find out!

Just had a quick test to try sending midi straight out of TouchOSC via the Midi Mobilizer into some outboard kit.

Works absolutely perfectly. Really straight forward process.

So I used a Novation K Station as the test subject, mainly because I could find the midi implementation charts really quickly. I built a quick little interface on the TouchOSC template editor, a few push buttons for notes, and a few sliders. Defined the note values from Middle C upwards and assigned the faders to filter and envelopes. Synced the template across onto the iPad, plugged it into the Novation and it just worked.

Easy as pie.

Took some pics of it all, apologies for the shoddy quality, proper camera body is in the car and its raining outside =(

One silly thing that made me happy was that because the Novation was sending midi back to the iPad, pressing the actual keys made the buttons light up on the screen =D

Will try sending midi out from a sequencer into some of the synth apps now, although considering how straight forward this was, I cant imagine it will be too tricky.

Had my IK iRig MIDI a couple of weeks now. Fantastic being able to control stuff from the iPad ..... or control the iPad from other stuff :gamer:
