hmm i dont think so

 

you should just use unbalanced cable, especially since you'll be using short cables (hardly a difference between unbalanced or balanced then)

yeah, you're right, but trs is a balanced cable.

 

i'm a bit of a belt and braces type... i lke to cover all the bases.

Exactly, use unbalanced cables and you'll be fine.

No need to complicate things.

i'd still use a di.

 

just me i guess.

 

yeah ofcourse if you have one for that purpose, you should use it (only if it is a quality one, ofcourse, or else you'll be downgrading your signal anyway :))

 

but if you dont, you shouldnt have to spend the money on a dedicated di, isn't worth the trouble with such small cables (unless you are the kind of guy that also uses dedicated apogee a/d/d/a converters and 500$ cables :))
