Memorable Releases for 2011

The year is coming to a close and I was wondering what you guys got out of it. I didn't get into a lot of electronic from this year due to WAVES of suggestions from my metal-head friends in real life.

So, anyways, what will you be remembering years from now, doesn't necessarily have to be an electronic release

For me:

Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 2

The Field - Looping State of Mind

Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die but You Will

Weedeater - Jason... The Dragon

Shlohmo - Bad Vibes

Red Fang - Murder The Mountains

Nicolas Jaar - Space is Only Noise

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues

Honestly I haven't really been following much electronic this year. And there haven't been any releases from the featured artists here. I follow a lot of metal and psychedelic rock bands and feel overwhelmed trying to add in following electronic artists too (beyond the aforementioned ones in featured artists). It's been a fun year for metal though...

Amon Tobin - ISAM

Immolation - Providence (an ep, free download here, or if you made it to their gigs they were giving away the ep there too http://scionav.com/collection/808/Scion-A/V-Presents:-Immolation---Providence)

Vader - Welcome to the Morbid Reich

Autopsy - Macabre Eternal

Necros Christos - Doom of the Occult

Dornenreich - Flammentriebe (this album is probably going to get forgotten though, aside from the last song)

Disma - To The Megalith

Those are some pretty great albums. Didn't expect any metal bros on this forum, thought I'd be shunned. Are you the only one?

This year I've mostly been going through already released things in areas of music I hadn't yet explored, but ones I know I will remember for a long time and permanently associate with this year are:

Rustie - Glass Swords

Global Goon - Threezadoozy

Automatic Tasty - Life After Debt

2010 and 2009 had a LOT more new releases that I played to death than this year, really.

Enslaved - The Sleeping Gods (got a free copy of this through a contest i wasn't supposed to win)

Vader, of course.

Global Goon - Quones and Everything Is Connected

Haven't bothered with much electronic this year. But anything vibert releases i immediately buy cause it is universally awesome.

I dare you to be more metal than I.

on the (not really) metal tip

Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light 1

this record is amazing, Earth keep getting better.

seconded. dont think it tops hex (which i think is one of the very best albums of the last decade) but like it more than bees. saw them live a month ago too, it was fantastic.

phoenecia- demissions

shabazz -palaces black up

wagawaga -hyper typewriter

surgeon - breaking the frame

are probably my favorites from this year. and I would really only call the first two mind blowing. subjex echo space is sure to catch up but i've only listened to it once.

I'm probably the only person on the whole board who likes the new Coldplay album.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else that I've listened to that has been released this year, except for Mogwai's latest. Probably should get to it.

STUFF I REMEMBER FROM THIS YEAR THAT WASN'T STUFF I WAS INVOLVED IN

Arbee EP (can't remember the name offhand)

Bjork - Biophilia (it grew on me somewhat)

Coppice Halifax - Pawleys Island (so good fokes)

Jandek - Where Do You Go From Here? (different from his norm. Whole band, actually good at playing ambient jazzy stuff)

Ladytron - Gravity the Seducer (I guess I still like new Ladytron)

Tom Waits - Bad as Me (cleanest record he's done in at least a decade)

Tonetta - 777 Vol 3 (actually I still have to get this but I've heard most of the tracks on his YT)

There's probably more I liked but those ones spring to mind

Guest Ricky Downtown

i did an awful job keeping up with music this year. the only three albums i listened to were Wagon Christ, Bibio, and J. Rocc. Of the three I'd say J. Rocc was my favorite.

2011 was a jazz/funk year for me.
