so i'll be in the market for an engagement ring at some point soon. i hate diamonds and the diamond trade and don't want to support it. i'd expect to spend 1,000$ or something around there.

i'd be willing to get some sort of sweet custom design but i don't know where to even start or who to ask so i ask you watmm. sup?

I'm sure you've got local jewellers that are pretty clean and fair when it comes to diamonds. the shop i was looking into offered some fucking bad ass designs forr a reasonable price. it's a tremendous art. do some research into local crafts people.

go to a few stores, ask the female employees -if possible- about engagement rings, cause they´ll just go aaaawwww for about 2min and then will be more than happy to help you.

There are a few classical engagement rings out there and every store has them, but you can choose pretty much every kind of ring you want, whatever fits her best I suppose.

Also for the size, it´s free of charge to make them smaller and can be done within a few days, so try to get her size before you go out shopping.

protip: try to get her grandmother's ring or something like that. family heirlooms are much cooler and free. and she will think you are more thoughtful than you are. it's win-win-win.

i want a meteorite ring sooo bad

i am a huge nerd

if she is a huge nerd

MAYBE

this is a nice idea. more of these.

no diamonds though, i don't care if it's a local jeweler. don't care about social traditions really, just want to get a really awesome killer ring with a sapphire or emerald or some shit in there. i'll know if it's awesome enough for her

disregard diamonds but go local. you can fit a stone into any ring. or no stone. or whatever.

and social traditions, well, you're asking about an engagement ring.

touche. the marriage would be more for my family and legal reasons, but i want to get her some awesome ring to commemorate the occasion.

i found petrified wood rings but they were not quite sweet enough. some meteorite rings look pretty boss. would they have those in local jewelry stores?

GO ASK THEM WHAT THEY CAN/WILL DO.

You won't get answers here unless you live where i/we do and go to the same store that I/we did. GO ASK. DO IT.

each jeweler is different. go find somethin'.

yeah i mean i dunno what's local to you, i doubt many of places that work with meteorite stuff are, it probably takes some weird specialised knowledge to work with meteorite iron and keep the weird cool patterns intact...

i searched "odd engagement rings" for fun and came up with some cool ones.... search "binary ring" and " fingerprint ring"

The binary one can have some special message imprinted in the ring... maybe something you guys always say to each other or something.

congrats by the way.
