Steinvord Speculation

YELLOW

Recommended Posts

they are but iyf acid to me sounds straight Aphex, squarepusher to my knowledge has never done an acid track like that but aphex has, squarepusher also never uses break beats with this much kick drum bass in them, most of the time his bass is an additional synth sound underneath a break. If this is a squarepusher acid/breaks song it's more slamming than almost any similar track he's ever made

I personally think Steinvord was only RDJ and not TJ... but TJ has definitely thrown down some ACEEEEEED.

those are all really good acid tracks by squarepusher but not in a single one of them do you hear a hip hop style thick kick drum attached to a clean breakbeat sample like iyff acid. I can't point to an identical or even very similar Aphex track to iyff acid but
it has a similar production style to this remix

very large boomy kick drum break beat around 2:50 in this remix .If this is not an official aphex remix sorry for being a noob, i havent heard it until now if it is Edited by John Ehrlichman

Maybe im losing my mind but im pretty sure these links weren't on his myspace last time I went there:

Does this mean he updated his myspace for the first time ever?

Nice, something interesting should be coming up then I reckon. I can remember that Grant said there was a Steinvord full-length planned a while ago?

in the "can't get over how amazing steinvord is" thread, a few months ago, paranerd posted "Grant is trying to get a tour happening in the States and he mentioned Steinvord on the roster. He's looking for venues, so if any if you feel like you could help him out do so. Then maybe there would be a Steinvord gig happening."

i wonder if they/he/she would try to maintain the anonymity during a tour. i'd bet they would. hopefully fans would respect it and not be snoopy at the shows. it would be difficult to pull it off, though, with all the people who'd be involved. even if they arrived at the venues in masks and no one knew, that alone would be a tip off. plus if someone recognize tom or richard in one of the cities, that would give it away.

I just wanna chime in and say I majorly slept on steinvord. I downloaded a vinyl rip at the time which sounded awful but I just thought that's how the quality was. Then I downloaded a flac rip last week and it's amazing. Such a difference haha

RDJ:

I have done 4 tracks so far with Squarepusher. When I move I am going to do more. The ones I did with Tom are ridiculously mental.

i read it as 'I have done 4 tracks so far with Steinvord.' and was all D: how did we miss this interview. but it turns out it's just the pusher conspiracy again.

Just listened to Steinvord's eponymous album for like the sixth time in a single sitting.

It definitely is Tom Jenkinson. I can hear him all over it. Most obviously is the usage of the prominent sample from "Tundra" on "Ontrackv2"

See for yourself:

vs.

The acid bits? Could be anybody at this point. To me it's not distinct enough. Could just as well be Vibert or Cephax, tbh. I don't hear anything particularly characteristic of RDJ in this.

Could be though.

I'm gonna predict once more that the first two slower ones are all RDJ, the third super fast one is either all TRJ or RDJ/TRJ and the last two super fast ones are, obviously, all TRJ. I predict they were recorded BEFORE "Do You Know Squarepusher", but either just before or just after Go Plastic, and definitely just after or during Drukqs.

Oh, and BTW, according the the vinyl run-out etchings + the ordering of the vinyl sticker, the slow ones are Backyard and Maelstrom, and the fast ones are Iffy, Cyg-X1 and Ontrackv2.

Yes but there were claims that some of the vinyls had the etchings on opposite sides, know what I mean? So some people were saying their A side had 2 tracks, and others were saying their A side had 3 tracks. I don't recall where I saw those claims but I think it was either here or xlt and some comments on the discogs page for the release or some combination thereof.

If that's true then... master troll.
