M- Audio Fast Track Ultra High Speed 8 x 8 USB 2.0 Audio Interface

Yeah I have an extra 4 stereo channels and 6 mic/line in at my disposal courtesy of two small mixers. What I need now is to be able to route audio from my various devices separately plus I'm gonna try and get back into working with some vocalists so it seems my Saffire 6 just falls a little short in terms of flexibility. Its a shame 'cause I'm otherwise fairly happy with it.

yeah good choice, probably the best USB audio card you can get in that class. quality drivers too I hear..

I'm using a Delta 44 (PCI) and I'm very happy with it.

Yeah I remember the Delta 44 from years back! I got M-Audio Audiophile 2496 which is attached to old pc.

I bought one of these when I first moved because I needed a usb interface for my laptop. It works great, no noise when recording.

Cool. What's the mixer software for it like? I read about its internal dsp which has eq, delay and reverb is that good?

How has the Saffire 6 faired for you?

I need a new audio interface myself and the Saffire 6 looks like the best fit. I don't really need recording inputs as much as I need 4 outs for Djing and balanced outs for other situations which the Saffire 6 has both. The only other interface Ive really come across is a Tascam US-200, but it doesnt have balanced outs and I know jack about Tascams products. Scarlett 8i6 also looks nice but probably overkill for my needs, and required extra power.

and required extra power.

I think all external audio interfaces require an extra power source as USB & Firewire don't supply enough juice to run them.... or is that not what you meant at all :emb:

Its seems fairly reasonable to me. Its a big bastard though and I'm suprised it runs off usb. I think it'd be nice if it could powered by 5v adapter but doesn't seem to effect its performance. The main issue I had was it wouldn't work with Windows 7 so I was forced to use my old laptop to make music with then one day it decided to work.

ye drivers are really important I've learned.. lot's of manufacturers don't update their drivers for older cards on newer OS' when they move on to newer models. this isn't that much of an issue in linux, but for instance my nio won't run on it at all! it needs native drivers. would sell it but I think it looks too weathered.

weird interference? like the audio is 'chunking'?

that's a bit of a known issue with ASIO drivers on Windows 7 by the looks of it. I get it on my machine (have to switch audio drivers back and forth to fix it).
