I asked this a while back and got some good results, watch Homeland off the back of it. I think there are a few new series this year that are worth watching that I saw in a Sky Atlantic advert, but I couldn't remember them all. Alctraz was one which I've started watching but not sure about. Any others that are must watch?

Friday Night Lights is 3 episodes in on Sky Atlantic. Cheesy, but really really good.

I just watched the Pilot of Jerico on shatflix, looks fairly decent and watchable. I think someone recommended me that before.

I got caught in David Milch, of Deadwood fame, new HBO series Luck. It's centered around horse racing, something I had no clue about, but after getting used to the jargon it's an oddly captivating series. It has interesting characters, a recently released mobster/businessman played subtly by Dustin Hoffman with some motives trying to get back into the gambling business. A group of gamblers who scored big on a race and are now owners of a race horse. Nick Nolte is playing an old horse trainer with a promising colt and a bunch of other characters that you might find around a horse racing track. Good dialogue that you might expect from a Milch series. Michael Mann directed the pilot and works as a producer as well. It's an all-around quality show. Even if the subject matter might seem uninteresting and obscure it's worth a shot. It's a slow burner but keep at it as the characters gets fleshed out.
