I've been very focused on future garage/bass, especially since it's what dubstep has merged into. RA, XLR8TR, and FACT follow it relentlessly. There seems to be a contradictory occurrence where a lot of labels and subgenres seem pretty rigid to whatever sounds are hyped at the moment YET it also appears that house, dnb, IDM, techno, glitch, hip-hop, and garage are becoming less and less rigid to labels, scenes, and BPMs, which is refreshing. I feel like in 2005 or 2006 things were effectively: here's Ed Banger and Kitsune for House, here's Kompakt and Perlon for minimal, here's Warp and Rephlex for IDM, here's DMZ and Tempa for dubstep, etc. Now I feel like things are less constrained style wise, but that certain sounds get hyped for a bit. (Like wonky and Brainfeeder for example, or Tri Angle and "witch house") Gonna listen to Scuba's BBC essential mix today before it's taken down (surely it's been ripped though) - http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b01c2yg7 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
