jazz band covers boc

While it's not badly executed (barring a couple of wrong notes here and there), it's not jazz. There's no improvisation, no solos, no real interplay among the musicians.

It's just - a band playing a song they like.

this is not the definition of jazz. but i agree, they're not even a band. this thread is a lie.

Sorry, there's also no syncopation or polyrhythms, and there's barely any swing.

I never thought that covers liked this worked well with conventional instruments. The melody lines are too simple to work without a synth with various filters and LFOs.

That's just jazzy. Not really that great JAZZ. I think this is way more coherent and includes some nice improvisation http://worldworld.ba...m/track/roygbiv . Way better than the above imo, despite the lack of inspiration in the chord progression towards ending. Most of you have probably heard it before, but still.

That's pretty. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah this. A lot of great synth music just sounds basic & amateurish when you play it on dry real-world instruments, just like a lot of sweet-ass guitar riffs just sound like a big dense mess of cheese on a complex synth patch. Maybe that's why so many rock musicians don't like techno & vice-versa, because there's usually a different compositional mindset at play in each.

A good live cover of electromusic (or any music, really) needs more than just a straight translation of melodies & rhythms to really fly.

notes for the bass are wrong

correction: the pitches are wrong

yeah the bass probably can't go that low for the notes that are wrong, so he pitched it up. Still. This. Was. Pathetic.

the title was a joke, obviously.

I was wondering if I was the only person who got that.

The version on Chaos' post makes the track sound like a menu screen for a golf game .... (not saying that's bad)

So true, also it fits perfectly in Gran Turismo menus
