Drumspillage

Recommended Posts

So I got the demo for this the other day and it sounds really really nice. I think I'm about to buy it. Going to play with it for another day or 2 though. They have a sale on until the 15th.

Anyone else use this?

It's basically got 16 pads, with like 13 different synthesis models for making sounds. Only thing I really wish it did was also have a sample playing function... Maybe it's in an update as one of their lower plugins has this feature.

It's got really meaty sounding drums though. Very nice. :)

I use both DrumSpillage and MiniSpillage2. The drum synths in MS2 are slightly different than the ones in DS, and MS2 can play sample and layer them with drum synths in a few clicks. FWIW, DS may eventually get a sequencer and the sample player features. Until then, MS2 and DS complete each others pretty well.

They did a sale few days ago, maybe it's still valid. If you can afford it, buy both !

The plug-ins are great and its dev is super friendly and fast to answer emails if you have any questions.

Highly recommended !

sweet, ya I was thinking to nab both.

Really though I'm stil trying to replace Ultra Beat (the drum synth in Logic) for use in different environments. That plugin is really fantastic, it's a shame it's an apple product and not available as a normal AU. There you can use a sample as one osc, and can even FM it with the other oscs. The modulation options are fantastic as well and give so much life to the sounds.

I know in Drumspillage you can use velocity to change the sounds, but do you have much control over what it actually does? From what I could see in the demo it just gets plugged into that "accent" parameter, and that's it. Am I missing something?

You don't have much control over what velocity changes do, but you have much control over the Randomize options :

And it's damn powerful :)

ya I saw that. That's sweet. :)

Anyways it's not too big a deal, as I'm sequencing with Numerology, and can just make some paramod jigger to automate what ever I want, even based on velocity. :)

That's one of the things I really loved about ultrabeat is how expressive you could make it. I'm sure it's possible w/ DS too I just need to dig into it.
