Nice Web Dev/Design Resources

In the spirit of the "Nice Links" thread, I was looking to start a similar thread related to the many web design/developer WATMMites who frequent this site.

Once upon a time, during the hey-day of HTML 4.0 / XHTML 1.1, I knew of many of these, but some are either defunct or woefully outdated now. A List Apart still seems like a nice resource.

Personally, I'm looking for something a bit broader in style, something that encompasses the dev/design challenges brought by HTML5, JQuery/Ajax, Flash finally circling the drain, and more importantly, the major players in the 3rd party app/platform arena. For the latter, I'm thinking social media as well as Flickr, Instagramshit, and so-on.

So let's have it. Sites with good content, even if not frequently updated, much appreciated!

If no such sites exist, perhaps Joyrex and CM will finally come to the realization that the MUSIC in WATMM is no longer relevant and make this site a haven for web nerds: designers, developers, programmers, producers, and all-around devourers of the Interwebs. WATWM?

Mark Pilgrim's now-abandoned Dive Into HTML5 site has been usurped by (I think) a few of his colleagues and is now here:

http://diveintohtml5.info/index.html

It's an imperfect resource, but it's nonetheless filled with useful tidbits.

can i get excited about HTML5 yet? or are the browsers all still dragging their fucking heels?

I want to write a script that if it detects you are using IE6 wipes your harddrive and sets you on fire.

Can't think of many 'broader' style sites at the moment but

www.reddit.com/r/webdev is good for broad discussion like challenges, portfolios, jquery demos etc. May as well check out the other related subbreddits too like r/html5, r/javascript, r/jquery

Just a few sites for inspiration:

www.dhteumeuleu.com/ DOM Scripting demos, HTML 5 & Javascript experiments made by 1 guy

www.siteinspire.com/ Showcase of interactive design; bit more web-design oriented

flol...basically, if you've downloaded your browser within the last year and kept it up to date, you're good to go with HTML5 with very few caveats.

http://html5test.com/

That site does a decent job of breaking down your score in key HTML5 compatibility categories.

Even IE does okay from IE9+.

I just ran that test with FF11 and 345/500, most of which may be chalked up to running in 'quirks' mode.
