Why wouldn't the person split it up to make more ?

They scratched to buggery ?

Maybe the seller is dying of cancer, and they want it all to go in a lot, to a good home. Also, it probably won't stay at 250 for long.

it's 250 buy it now.

maybe somebody died and somebody is having to get rid of some of their stuff.

or, maybe they just couldn't be arsed to split it all up individually... and they're rich anyway.. ?

Whoever set the bar for selling 'philosophy of art and sound' at 200+ should be smacked around a little. Also, this guy: http://www.discogs.c.../59865701?ev=wh

For a tape!

Yeah, I saw that too on my wantlist, what a total moron. 167 pounds for AB1 on cassette! Suprisingly his ratings are pretty bad too.

OT: seeing some interesting things I don't yet have in that eBay list, about 80% is already in my collection. Don't think this will be sold very fast, people that are familiar with aphex will have alot in that list already, new people wouldn't pay extra for all those semi-rare remix cd's IMO.

the re-sell value, though. it's all about the re-sell value. ;)

if you could be arsed to sell all that lot separately then you'd probably make a nice profit... even if they are CD's.

why would someone sell their collection like that? 250 pounds is even that much money for it, the sum of the money he spended on the material goes alot farther than that.

Selling my whole lot of CDs and vinyl is something I think of a lot. They just sit there. I have everything ripped. Why do I keep them

I don't know about you guys, but I listen to my CD's and especially vinyl a lot. I don't want to depend totally on my harddisk/computer for music. When studying I close the pc for days so I rely on the 'real stuff'. I do find myself browsing through my CD/LP collection and looking at the artwork, lyrics, etc. Brings back alot of memories most of the time. Can't imagine all those CD's have no emotional value whatsoever.

So you mean that some business guy is buying this and then trying to make profit? I'm really hoping that it isn't that bad, and I'm probably a bit naive in that. Because it'll end up in people all turning into someone selling his scratched and torn aphex cassettes for 170 pounds. Oh, wait...

incase there's an EMP. :)

seriously, tho.. don't rely on computers/HDD's for everything.

Considering I recently sold most of the CDs he had in that lot individually on eBay I can confirm that a lot more $ could've been had rather than selling it all as a chunk; my 'Philosophy Of Sound & Machine' sold for $87 on it's own... As was mentioned earlier perhaps profit wasn't the idea.

It's sold now.

they would've mostly all been US versions, though, right? distributed by Nothing. which would've made them less valuable than the proper UK releases. ;)

maybe the guy just needed the money quick, and selling at $250 was a guaranteed quick sale. or somebody was selling somebody else's stuff, for whatever reason, and wasn't aware of the value.
