One day in Berlin ... Eno came running in and said, 'I have heard the sound of the future.' ... he puts on 'I Feel Love', by Donna Summer ... He said, 'This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next fifteen years.' Which was more or less right.

RIP Donna, to say you were a total ledge was an understatement.

I was hoping against hope that it was that breakcore artist pseudonym Donna Summer that died, not the o.g. Donna.

RIP

Danced to "I feel love" in various incarnations more times than i can remember. Guaranteed floorfiller, even after all this time.

Yeah, pretty much the same for me.

Why are the good artists dropping dead and the useless ones keep on trucking until they disappear into obscurity without leaving a single worthwhile mark after them.

very very sad news, i am continually surprised that barely anyone knows about her 3 greatest electronic music songs, the final 3 tracks on 'Bad Girls' which imo is much superior to 'i feel love'

If i wouldn't have randomly bought the 2xLP at a thrift store, i wouldn't know about these tracks, internet searches for Donna summer and electronic music come up with nothing about this wonderful album. Which is strange because to me 'i feel love' almost sounded like an unused track from Giorgio's From Here to Eternity and not a track composed specifically for her

Some serious tunes here; I was only really aware of 'I Feel Love' which I realize is sinful of me... Thanks for the history lesson Awepittance!

Rest in peace Queen of Disco.

Hot Stuff, Dim all the Lights, and especially I Feel Love were all my favorites. Very sad to see her go.

Too many musical legends dieing.

Edit: Grew up on this remix, was on my Mom's Pure Disco CD.

nice track

fun fact: New Order's first hit single 'Blue Monday' sampled the drum loop from Donna Summer's 'Our Love' as the main drum loop in new New Order song

(scroll to 1:41 in 'Our Love' by donna summer, you'll recognize it immediately)

her live record is good too, unfortunately even when she plays out 'I feel love' or any of those last 3 tracks from Bad Girls they are always rock band covers, which is still cachy as fuck if you ask me

i just wrote up a tribute article to her work, give a passing mention to Kraftwerk but credit her and Giorgio for creating the electronic music surge that followed

that's a good question. I know with people like Nina Hagen, she wrote all of the songs he produced. Blondie it was a combination, most of the songs they worked together on he wrote ,but occasionally not. I don't know how much of the actual songs she wrote, but to me Giorgio with another musician never reached the same heights. IT was a magic combination, lighting in a bottle.
