edit: am i alone in that my favorite python moments are not gilliam's animations, but gilliam's hilariously bad british accent attempts and continuous cameos as random characters on the show

Ah! Thanks for posting, always loved his stop motion stuff. I have been feeling a little discouraged doing my own art and animations lately and I think this re-inspired me a little!

one of the most genius aspects of Monty Python's was it's absurd abuses of utilizing public domain stock footage, music and photography.

 

Almost every single musical cue in their show was pulled from an old BBC Library of some kind.

 

i wonder if Terry gilliam would collect this stuff at garage sales and stuff? i bet back in the 70s and late 60s you could probaby buy bags and albums full of photos like this for nothing.
