At a friend's house for a socially-distant cookout, got to crack open this baby.  It's so spectacular on a hot afternoon. I tried to share but my friends were not fans, which was surprising becau

I'm currently drinking a Coors Light

I can't even remember the last time I posted in this thread, but Ireland has upped its craft beer game by so many levels since then its unreal.   I used to buy an American beer every time I

if you like wit beer, it's pretty good. not my favorite or anything...

besides wits and IPAs, most "posh" beers taste like spiced meaty garbage to me. *ducks*

i have not. but you're not really selling it to me with the 'tastes like shit', gurph.

we have a bar here, a tiny little spot upstairs from a gay bar, that has porterhouse plain on tap, along with some other lovely porters. they steadfastly refuse to stock guinness. best pub in limerick.

I was up in Maine last week and visited the Allagash brewery. They do a free tour and a free tasting. They're fucking saints, and Curieux is delicious and bourbony.

I need to have a mini spree in Waitrose soon because last time I was there they had tons of unknown, exciting looking beers of which I unfortunately didn't participate. Stuff I've been drinking at home tends to be bought on the way home from work which usually tends to be:

It's stronger than the majority of what you usually see but it doesn't tell taste wise. It's fucking great. Funnily enough I'm just finishing one now. To be followed by:

Is that thomas st where that rubberbandits church is?

Well down the road of the harbour bar theres a porterhouse. Stays open till 3am because they have a god awful club at the back, but sure keeps the place open past 12.30. Porter house red is a good substitute for smithwick's because they dont stock it. Also usually have a "beer of the day" for 3 quid generally. Can range from some pretty nice stuff to shittiest of shitty. Remember getting about 4 Rochefort 10's in there for 12 quid. That was a good night (I think).

Nice smooth caramel flavor. Gonna go see if a special brew store in town has some.

just had 2 pints of west berks brewery "good old boy" and a glass of belwhinnie 12 yr old single malt. I love my local! 3 mins walk. No telly, no food. Awesome jukebox and selection of ales and whiskys.

I'm curious...what is your favorite food complement to beer?

I would think anything greasy and/or salty in general would do. But I'm curious about specific foods in your guys' experience. I'm hoping to get some suggestions and recommendations so I get ideas for this summer.

I'm traveling/backpacking. Sometimes I get bored or stuck in somewhere so I got an Acer Aspire Switch minilaptop/tablet combo to entertain me. I installed Renoise on it because I got the license already. It's a pretty heavy software for the low spec thing but I can make some simple things. So, out of boredom I just bang out some tracks, mostly with the default instruments which I sometimes edit to my own tastes. Decided to upload some of them to Soundcloud for storage and post here.

I'm mastering with my earplug headphones so the mixing is probably pretty terrible..

I'm calling this the CybeerTraveler 2015 series after the facts that it's futuristic and I drink lots of beer.

TL;DR: I'm traveling with a cheapo laptop and making tracks when bored.

STEAK AND ALE PIE WITH MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY

      500g diced steak
      2 carrots, finely diced
      2 sticks celery, finely diced
      2 cloves garlic, finely diced
      1 large onion, finely diced
      about 20 baby button mushrooms
      2/3 pint beef stock
2/3 pint good ale or stout
      fresh parsley and thyme
      1 tbsp smoked paprika
      puff pastry (i used premade)
      butter
      flour
      sugar
      salt
      pepper
      white wine vinegar to deglaze
      an egg, whisked, to glaze

      large pot
      baking tray

toss the steak in flour and season with salt and pepper, then brown it and set aside

make a mirepoix - finely diced carrots, celery, onion, and garlic

put it in the same pot the steak was in, sweat in more butter for five minutes, then deglaze the pan with the white wine vinegar and scrape up dat goodness.

add the parsley, thyme, and mushrooms and cook for another minute or so

add 2tbsps flour, two tbsps sugar, and 1 tbsp smoked paprika, and stir until the flour is golden brown

add the ale and simmer for a minute, then add the stock and re-add the steak and simmer for about an hour.

meanwhile, grease the pie tray with butter and roll half the pastry out and line the tray with it, with an overhang.

      ]

reserve some of the broth so the filling isn't sloppy (i use it for gravy for the mash), then add the filling, and brush the edges of the pie with egg wash

roll out the rest of the pastry and top the pie. trim off the excess pastry, crimp the edges of the pie, glaze well with egg wash, and make a few slits in the middle of the pie.

into the oven with it for an hour at 200C/gas 7!

So I bought it on a whim, having loved the chocolate oak-aged Yeti, and this is definitely its equal. Chocolatey, dark, sweet... absolutely wonderful beer, that even a few of my friends who don't like beer seem to like.

Anybody else tried this magnificent drink?
