They have this in my local M&S, I presume it’s imported and the real thing (NOT BREWED UNDER LICENSE IN FUCKING NEWCASTLE OR FUCKING WHEREVER!!) eh excuse the outburst  and for some reason I’ve never bought it. I need cheering up (bad back) so maybe I’ll sit in the back garden, pretend it’s 15 degrees warmer and gently work my way through half a dozen (maybe a dozen ) of these.

As promised. It’s a cheerful, almost balmy afternoon here in the Thames Valley. Shorts, no socks or shoes in the September sun in the back garden. Got the red and blue ones. Almost had a heart attack when I read ‘brewed in Portsmouth’ thankfully followed by USA. Bought a few Staropramen the other day, cracked the bottle had one sip and instantly knew that when I looked at the label it would now say Brewed Under License. And there it was. Another beer fucking ruined (it’s a particular first world problem of mine as you might be able to tell). As for the Longboard it’s fine.

@beerwolf just curious, what other sorts of American beers do you see in supermarkets over there? I'd imagine it's the standard piss beers (Coors, Bud), with maybe a few other random ones mixed in. 

and in my opinion, sitting in the backyard on a warm sunny day drinking beer is about as good as it gets...

My local shops have Sierra Nevada pale ale, Brooklyn lager and a few other Brooklyn beers, Goose Island and Samual Adams. This I guess would appear in most supermarkets across the country. Marks and Spencer use to have Sierra Nevada Torpedo, which I loved but that has sadly been discontinued. I would like to drink more American specialty beers but in my local area they are hard to find. I’m sure if I headed to a specialist beer shop (Richmond)  I could find a much better selection. But it’s all a very expensive mission. And nowadays I’d rather buy a half decent bottle of wine. Not sure about online beer shops, I kind of gave up on them as I was spending a bloody fortune. Cheers  

(edit) also Lagunitas IPA is quite common.

Sometimes I’ve seen Anchor Steam and California Lager. I think the Cali Lager was really nice. Again M&S use to do both but have discontinued them which is a shame. I’m about to chug on the Big Wave

yeah there are a ton of excellent microbrews in the US that unfortunately don't make it very far out of region. the selection is somewhat overwhelming actually.

this place I go to on occasion - https://www.totalwine.com/ and am always stuck starring at aisles of colorful, very creative beer labels, trying to make an executive decision.

Hah! Yeah I know that feeling. Been there done that and got the t-shirt. I think it’s only natural I would always move onto wine as I always liked it growing up. Seems less expensive than buying beer (especially buy 6 bottles and get 25% off deals) and doesn’t seem to involve as much ‘executive buying decisions’ as you humorously put it. Once you know the grape and the region and price range you take your pick. Walking into a specialist beer shop is similar to taking a stroll in a strange dimension
 

Still good fun though.

Beer is extremely creamy, juicy, hazy.   One of the best I’ve had all year.   Yum.

Liefmans sour ale aged for 5 years in my basement.  It's good, more subtle than most sours I'm used to, maybe because of it's age. Paired with a homemade moussaka (not pictured) made with eggplant and tomato sauce from my garden, yum.

Straight OJ.  Zero bitterness - while creamy and juicy as f.

Took a bunch of random days off from work this month and been getting lucky with the weather.  Spend half the day doing yardwork and housework and then the other half sitting outside reading or drinking brew.

Apparently it's a blend of seven batches of varying age, which makes it scarce and therefore expensive.

Boon is great.  My go-to everyday geuze is Lindeman's oude geuze.
