it’d be a bummer not being able to play games on tv (especially in multiplayer context). but if i’m being honest, 99% of my switch playtime is in handheld and i think this would be a totally viable option for a lot of people.

ive played the switch in “tabletop” mode.. resting the thing with the stand and playing 2 player with a friend with the switch on a desk. and it kind of sucks. the screen is too small when you’re not holding it up close to your face and you have to hunch forward and fuck up your back in the process. and this switch mini has an >even smaller< screen. i imagine trying to play this on a table with a friend would be fucking horrible. plus the thing doesn’t have detachable joycons out of the box.. playing in handheld is clearly the priority.

No kickstand is the dumbest omission, they could have put it in rather cheaply i bet and even improve the quality of it.  Someone will have to hold the unit or prop it up for multiplayer.

Well since you can't detach the joycons from the Switch Lite, you can't play on "tabletop" mode so the stand is useless !

Anybody here tried the Dr Mario phone game ? it's quite fun actually, solo missions not that much but the multiplayer is good !

you can still sync additional joycons and controllers to the Switch Lite i believe, so it is technically possible. but i agree with the sentiment that Rubin Farr is horribly wrong and speaking out of line here .

You could use any of the charging stands available for Switch to do tabletop mode on Switch Lite, like this one.  Also, any U.K. members looking for a Switch, here's a good deal with a Switch, Super Mario Maker 2, a year of Switch Online, and a 30GBP eShop card:

This won't interest anyone who isn't into old-school FPS games, but Ion Maiden is now renamed Ion Fury (due to Iron Maiden's lawsuit back in May) and the official release date is announced as 15th August: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/07/11/ion-maiden-renamed-to-ion-fury-before-an-august-15th-launch/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+rockpapershotgun%2Fsteam+(Rock%2C+Paper%2C+Shotgun%3A+Steam+RSS)

non-dockable budget Switch is coming.

Nintendo says the Switch Lite is not replacing the Nintendo 2DS / 3DS handheld devices... Yeah, right. ?

Let's be honest. The Lite is the perfect replacement. ?

Surely you've heard of some of these titles - Gradius, Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, Ghouls n' Ghosts - they're all classics!

Oh - if I am reading it correctly, each unit comes with ALL the games listed; they just separated them out between US and JP. Is it worth 100 bucks (and no AC adapter included)? Not sure.
