What Video Games Are You Currently Playing

I need a new game to play. I'm thinking on going through Arkham City or starting the Mass Effect Trilogy (haven't played any of them).

Thoughts? Maybe start with Arkham City because I'm thinking going through the trilogy would take a bajillion hours?

Play Mass Effect 1, then Arkham City, then Mass Effect 2, then Mass Effect 3.

look up a Lets Play and watch the first 15min or so...should give you a pretty good idea of what you want to do.

The Paradox forums are also excellent at helping with stuff..Faq's, modding, the works.

I have to say Dishonored might be the most overrated game I've played this year.

It isn't bad, but I just couldn't get into it.

I had the same sentiments. The game doesn't require it, but suggests that you be as sneaky and non-lethal as possible. After a while I just wasn't feelin' it. Plus I'm more into sci-fi/post-apocalypse/cyberpunk world settings anyway.

I've played the original UFO: Enemy Unknown many times, but I enjoy the new one as well. A lot of fans of the original game slam the new one for not being enough like the original though.

I know, but I don't care. It's just always the same bullshit coming from many gamers:

1. WE ARE THE ELITE GAMERS

2. THE OTHERS ARE STOOOPID KIDS AND THEIR GAME IS CRAP

3. MODERN GAMING IS STUPID AND FOR KIDS WITH ONE BRAIN CELL, OLD RETRO WAS THE ELITE

4. [Veteran sez] IF REMAKE!=ORIGINAL THEN REMAKE=CRAP; GOTO 1, 2 and 3

5. BIG STUDIOS ARE EVIL, INDIE DEVELOPERS ARE MAKING TEH WURLT BETTER!

...and so forth and so on. I'm really waiting for Kickstarter project members telling us they used the money for prostitutes and cocaine and in order to invest that money on NYSE and support of nuclear energy. I mean, do people really think b/w? Kickstarter guys soooo socialistically gooodddd? Big guys sooooo evil?

XCOM:EU doesn't want to be like the original UFO:EU and it isn't. It is a great strategy game after all (the tactical map). Xenonauts is more for the friends of micromanagement. I'm both depending on my mood.

Some gamers really talk so much black and white bullshit. I mean I do both. Doing heavily geekish micro-organization of things in Dwarf Fortress and in the next hour I just go out and kill players in Arma Multiplayer. So what?

Yeah it's retarded that they flip out because the new XCOM doesn't follow every single aspect of the original one that came out almost 19 years before it. That's a whole generation - what do they expect?

The better-than-thou nostalgia nazis...get off your high horse, dudes. If you want to enjoy it, you gotta have an open mind.

As for the new Bioshock: Infinite cover, it feels like it's missing something. Elizabeth, perhaps.

ok, so i started to finally understand CK2 and played it for quite awhile. turns out i was wrong, i don't like this game. its just not fast paced and exciting enough for me (even at full speed nothing happens). i spend like 10-20 mins assigning duties and stuff and then im just sitting there waiting for messages to pop up for like an hour. but its not necessarily a bad game. so i can see why people love it so much. its just not my thing, i think ill just stay with the Total War series. i am glad i gave it a try though, ive been desperate trying to find more games like Total War but i don't think ill ever find anything that comes close.

I want to try XCOM: EU. Havn't played a turn-based game for ages. And it only 25 pund on amazon right now.

But I just can't get past how awful the art style of that game is.

I mean just look at this shit:

Those are custom suit skins I believe. They don't look that way by default. That's just for show.

but the point is that it's worse and shallower than a 19 years old game in almost every aspect, not that it's simply "different".

i think paradox should collaborate with whoever makes total war games to make the ultimate strategy game, paradox will take care of the strategic map and that stuff and the total war people will integrate their battle engine into that. that would be so fucking badass.

I wasn't just talking about that screenshot in particular. I don't like the overall art style of the game.

I don't mind a cartoony look if it's done right (Team Fortress 2, Windwaker, Borderlands etc.). But it looks silly in this game. I actually think the upcoming XCOM shooter by 2K Marin, that everybody is hating on, has a way more interesting art style

Anyway.. I might end up buying it at some point, what I've heard about the gameplay sounds awesome.
