I keep getting confused because a remake of System Shock 1 is coming out in addition to System Shock 3.

Yup. In fact, my understanding is that Warren Spector, the original creator (who also directed Deus Ex), is working on the third game. But lore-wise SShock 3 will be more of a pre-sequel, since it takes place after the first game but before the second.

Sounds exciting. I'd also love to see him work on another Deus Ex but that seems not very likely.

Bought an Oculus Quest for my cousin who has had a really rough couple of years, divorce, loneliness, career difficulties, etc. Hoping it'll be a fun way for the two of us to hang out over long distances. We used to be super close but have lost touch in our adulthood... also hoping a few relaxing fishing games will bring my step dad some relief and escape - he's near the end of his days after fighting cancer for four years. He's mostly bed-ridden at this point, but he's been an avid fisher most of his life -- if he can grasp the controls, which is certainly more intuitive than a gamepad, but nonetheless difficult for noobs, I think it'll help put him in a more peaceful headspace. We'll see.

All that said, I'm gonna have a hard time parting with this headset, lol. Being untethered in VR is awesome. I showed it to my girlfriend's mom last night (used The Blu as her introduction, then let her try out an easy level in Beat Saber). She immediately checked amazon to buy one, haha. It's pretty wonderful that VR is so enticing for non-gamers.

Saw that on Twitter, they're also doing great things with artificial "hero arms" for limbless people.  An amazing time to be alive.

Just pre-ordered Doom Eternal. Guess I'll find out if it'll run on my 6.5 year old laptop. Doom 2016 runs fine on it tho.

Also just found out there's a Skyrim mod that adds guns to the game. Tempting to start a new run just for that.

I think I am growing out of gaming. I don't feel the need to play games anymore and I haven't played any games since the end of 2019, it used to be my main hobby though

Might not be long for me as well. Bought my first analogue synth last weekend and am tempted to buy a drum machine in the near future as well. So making more tunes may be back on the table soon.

Compared to my 20s though I probably spend about a third of the time on gaming now that I did back then.

It comes and goes depending on what goes on in your life.

I don't play as much as I used to, but I still do casual gaming (GTA/Red Dead 2 Online etc). I realized that I just couldn't be bothered to put in the time to be really good at FPS games anymore. I used to play them competitively nearly 20 years ago. The upside is that I write a lot more music.

I finished Terminator: Resistance last night. But already started a second run because I'm not happy with how my choices affected the primary NPCs late game. So I want to make sure they actually survive this time.

Otherwise, idk why IGN and Metacritic crapped on this game, because I found it quite decent. And it's actually part dating sim, but with only the most important parts. Plus you get a shit ton of plasma weapons to mow down killer robots with on top of that in the second half.

Now I need to actually go watch the first two Terminator films on which this game is based. Many in my generation and prior might consider it blasphemy that I haven't actually watched them yet.

Decided to replay the Mass Effect trilogy. On the third one now and goddamn I miss the first one. Should’ve stayed an RPG instead of becoming a shooter with endless linear dialogue “trees.”

Still worth it for the Citadel and Leviathan DLC I suppose. I love that universe.

That's true for so many rpg series that started in the 90s, 00s and had iterations in the late 00s/early 10s.
