Miss this thread and the community, been so busy lately with this new job I haven't had much online time :/

 

I listened to some ライフMIDI today and it hit the fuckin spot. It's funny how you can be nostlagic for vaporwave music which is about being nostalgic for the sample sources. Double the meta, double the flavor. It's an experience like no other, kind of cathartic brain massage.

Long-time lurker of this thread, glad to have the opportunity to discuss Clanton.

 

I've seen him three times live and it's always been awesome. 100% Electronica (the album) hits all the marks for me. He wears his influences on his sleeve, but he's able to take them and craft his own sound quite effectively. Particularly on the track Slide, I hear very heavy Seal influences.

I think they got slight mention earlier in the thread, but has anyone listened to Vektroid's more recent albums? I'd be really curious to hear what people think bc (somewhat surprisingly) I haven't seen them discussed elsewhere. May not qualify as "true" vaporwave though.

 

I'm listening to Nextcentury atm and so far it's a really great sort of John Oswald-esque cacophony.

huge news for nmesh. also caught the attention of darude earlier in the week, he just made a casual post on fb that was like "man i almost feel sorry for darude, every single post on his facebook page is about sandstorm" and then darude posted a tweet later that said "you don't have to feel sorry" and it blew our friggin minds.

He's taking a page out of Rick Astley's book on dealing with that thin line between troll/parody and genuine appreciation.
