his website has some crazy shit on it

you guys have to ... HAVE TO ... check out Flanger. they did some mindblowing stuff very similar to Squarepusher. on exactly the same level. higher, debatable.

I've got the damn POP_H_D bit stuck in my head this morning

got this last night. can't believe people on here were dissing this lol. it's fucking amazing. "ich bin meine maschine" is a personal favorite for me.

it's great to hear him putting out such strong material after all these years, much like the 'chre i find this era very inspiring.

I wasn't dissing! Just think it's well mediocre. Actually the biggest fault on this album is Strom. Because it's so good it makes all the other tracks look utterly shit. :)

I don't think I've ever heard anything like The Sound Of Decay. That track is fucking wild. I wonder what he sampled for that main groove. Really nasty.

maybe i'm just being silly, but it's not wrong to think that the big OOOOOOOHHHHHMMMMMMMMM in Strom is the mangled sample from ohm sweet ohm? if not a sample well then obviously a nod. lol pop music obviously starts with kraftwerk for uwe

Isn't it just a timestretched/screwed up sample of him saying "Strom"? The "str-" is masked by a drum hit I think... only heard it the once on Spotify. Gotta get this.

yes for sure. but the way the "oh" and "mm" sounds are divided and pitch change between the "oh" - "mm" is the same as in "ohm sweet ohm." there's no way he did not either intentionally do that or was aware of the similarity. since there are many other nods to kraftwerk on this record i'm thinking this was all quite deliberate.

on this note i must say that i really love the synthesized vox and vocoder uwe has been experimenting with since "liedgut." i love how the consonant sounds often fill in the snares and such. really awesome.

um...am i the only one who really wants the pete townsend track to disappear?

@phling: he means the long-nosed dude from the whoooooo, so the My Generation remix-majiggerthingy

while it's definitely not my favorite track of the lp i think it sort of fits - and i like it for reasons i've said earlier in the thread just takes me back to that µallstar shtuff
