Why does this "Download" file download

So recently when I open certain threads here at WATMM my browser automatically downloads this file called "download". What's up with this?

why the fuck does "Warning: Using old versions of Firefox poses a significant security risk."

maybe because these fucks want me to download the new version of OSX?

I had this problem with Chrome! It occurred when trying to open tabs only, seems to have stopped (maybe with an update) - it was only on one computer.

I too am using chrome (latest ver.) and opening to new tabs. No word from any mods though?

I'm not sure if this issue is coming from the forum software, our server, or from the client browser (you lot) - I know this current version has a lot of bugs that were discovered, and the software provider is working on an update to address those - I'll check the bugtracker and see if this is an issue reported by other forums using this software.

You really should keep up to date on your browser updates - has nothing to do with your OS. Firefox 18 was just released yesterday with significant improvements in it's javascript engine.

well so far there's 3 (including myself) that this has happened to, and I think it's only happened to us while visiting WATMM. Also, with me, the file was a randomly titled .exe, which seems a bit odd for it to just be buggy forum code. It seems like the board has been compromised in some way.

if you run your browser as a privileged user you have much greater problems than just this forum

it doesn't work on my version so I just downloaded Opera. they're both relatively similar so I'm not going to worry about it for now, though thus far Firefox has a slight lead in terms of ease of use.
