Sorry Travis if you got offended, realize it's all in good fun round here, like you gotta to admit that Salvatoris post from p. 1 is pretty funny. Seriously tho I and a lot of watmmers thought room(s) was great (I think it got voted #1 in the 2011 aoy poll), so throw on that wolf pelt and keep cranking quality choons, dig?

Flahblub pls

Did I miss something? I've never noticed much machinedrum hate around these parts, I thought he was generally well liked?

I'm pretty sure he is. I don't see whole lot of hate in this thread, to be honest.

Personally, I'm just finding his reaction to a few people not liking his newest track funny. You'd think being signed to such a big label as Ninja Tune would raise your self-confidence a bit.

He says some pretty silly stuff on twitter.. So I wouldn't take it too seriously.

And yeah... Room(s) got mad love here, and totally deserved. It's one of the better records in recent years.

slightly funny....but my sense of humor may have been weakened by the fact that they published the article with a misspelling of apparently, and that the pictures of the 'party' look absolutely boring. fucking Spin.

on a much more important note, is that an iPad Machinedrum is using?

that drama over at Spin magazine is just weird. Did Travis not wear that sleazy 70s porn star look for ironic/silly reasons? If not i just think it's odd. What person in their right mind would dress like that and not have self awareness about how sleazy or silly it looks?

It reminds me of the Louis CK promo photo shots all over his website. Since the dude knows how fucking stupid promo headshots are, he just has a caption underneath all of them saying 'me being a douche'. Honest, admirable, true, authentic, and humble.

I just can't for the life of me believe that Travis is genuinely offended by someone pointing out what appears to be an ironic way of dressing. The way he looks is almost Tim and Eric level silly, and i guess the whole time I wrongly assumed it was part of the musical persona, and not actually a serious way of dressing. If it is serious, i'd still expect him to act less butt hurt about someone fairly pointing out the ridiculousness of it.

just out of curiosity how many people in this thread thought that those promo pictures of Machinedrum wearing those clothes was a 100% serious style choice and not semi-ironic poking fun type of thing?

guy is an awesome musician so ultimately it matters not at all what he wears or how he looks on stage but i think acting this personally offended by a tweet about his shirt seems very out of proportion. Although recently i've noticed just a general more self conscious vibe going on his twitter feed. Not only did he mention watmm but he also has voiced genuine concern that some party or person in Berlin is trying to ruin his reputation by spray painting over his project name on promotional fliers. I'm not saying I wouldn't be concerned about this if it happened to me but it seems to have started a pattern. Sometimes personal vendettas and jealously can blow up into bigger things, like maybe somebody in Berlin just doesn't like his attitude or his popularity and wanted to fuck with it, but it seems like perhaps something deeper is going on. He's generally perceived as being a nice down to the earth guy in person, so its not like he's a known twat like Zomby. Theories?

Hmrph. Probably not the best use of twitter for promoting music. TMI.

But the "Machinedrum" guy in that article is Tony Nelson who I have never heard of and is totally not the guy who made Room(s). I think there's some confusion there. Meh?

I'm pretty sure it's him, if the twitter shit is anything to go by. It's just Spin magazine not getting the name of their favourite dj right. aaaanyway, I could do with some more music off this thing. It's certainly sounding good so far. Looking forward to hearing the album in full.

i was confused as well but im pretty sure that it's the photographers name not a misprint of the real name behind Machinedrum, he did play the same show and he also responded over twitter from his twitter account and he's also been known to wear those types of clothes. Pretty safe bet its the same guy
